Any ideas?
I have had diarrhea for 11 days now. Everything I eat goes through me. On several of these days I have not been able to do anything to keep warm, like under 4 blankets shivering cold. The other night I drank a protein shake and ended up dry heaving all night as well as the diarrhea. I have not had a fever at all. I have talked with the WL center. They said to not take anything and to get tested for C-dif. The test is negative. Yesterday I went to the hospital for fluids. I'm at a loss. I'm pretty much only able to eat 200 calories a day. Yesterday it was 3oz of tuna, today, 30z egg salad.. I'm very tired. I asked the ER to draw for protein levels which will take a few days. They did say I was anemic. Before this all started, I was doing great on my protein and all else. I don't know what's going on.
sorry for the gross post:-(
I had that a few times. Every time they tested is was a norovirus. It needs ti run its course. Post op RNY some of us can be prone to that.
I take OTC activated charcoal capsules. They really help. and I push a lot of liquids. It is what it is.

Doesn't mean anything still could be norovirus or any other virus. You will survive without much food but make sure you are getting fluids in.
Also know one of the reasons norovirus is so contagious is because you can still pass it to others days after your symptoms are finished. People don't realize they are spreading it.

Granted I'm only on day four now, but I have had terrible gastroenteritis since Monday morning. I've had terrible intestinal cramping at and below my belly button... along with everything going through me at a rate of speed that's crazy. I do/did have a fever (it comes and goes now).
My doctor prescribed me a generic of Lomotil to take as needed. I'm very leery of it because I'm so prone to going the other way and needing Miralax to keep me normal, but I've taken it once a day and it's been great.
I've cut my diet down to protein shakes and eggs (today a bit of ham), and Powerade zero's for hydration. I've been having to heat it up to make it more tolerable.
My doctor (PCP) declared a gastroenteritis virus.
Of course, mine does not sound exactly like yours (low fever for days now), but I do know there are so many things going around right now that you might have some kind of virus.
Hope it gets better sooner than later!
