What's on our Menu Today (Thursday) RNYers?
I heard that the storms were terrible across North America yesterday. Even in Massachusetts there was quite a variation. JB is near Boston, but in central Mass (where my DD is) it was snow then ice, but on Cape Cod (where DS is) it was all rain. I hope everyone was safe even if their day was disrupted.
QOTD: I think the first tip was when I was getting sick of the sweet shakes, but needed to get in protein, I discovered Unjury chicken soup. It allowed me to get my protein in and the saltiness was a good break from the sweet. The second thing was once I was on soft foods, I started adding cottage cheese to my scrambled eggs to make them more moist (added prior to cooking). Who knew that cottage cheese melts and is nice and gooey? I still eat them every morning.
1 year, 10 months post-op

Good morning! About to set out for work, so this will be quick. One week done of liquids, and one week til surgery! Weee!
Qotd: not much experience yet, but I can add this: white knuckle the first few days of liquid diet and then it gets easier--the cravings ebb, and I've acctually been finding some food smells that used to make me drool unappetizing. A coworker heated some Italian-style microwave meal (lean cuisine or something) and I sit down the isle from her and thought I might gag...but before, I would have been thinking, "mmm I wonder what SHE'S having...". She ate the same thing on day 1, and I thought I'd tackle her for a taste of weird microwaved penne.

Good morning! On my way to work but as I'm the passenger today I'll take advantage and post my menu.
QOTD: My advice is to track your food- there are so many apps out there! Find one that works for you and use it. Also, be aware that you are not like normal people. For the most part, your calorie needs are going to be much lower. Ignore the messages the apps give you that your calories are too low.
I worked from home yesterday so fortunately I didn't have to deal with the weather other than going to pick up my kids after school. And then my youngest shoveled so it was all good. But I am seriously tired of winter.
Accountability- Chicken instead of beef stew for dinner
Menu:
B: Fried egg and 2 strips of bacon
L: leftover pork stir fry
D: we ended up having rotisserie chicken for dinner (from Swiss Chalet for the Canadians)
S: Greek yogurt with blueberries
No exercise again today. Aiming to get it done tonight.
Have a great day everyone!
RNY Jan 12, 2017 Lost 137 lbs but regained 60.
77 lbs lost and counting!
Losing the regain! I got this!
Mornin'!
we're supposed to get another 4-6" of snow here tonight. I AM SO SICK OF WINTER!!! I have two classes to teach tomorrow, but luckily, the first one isn't until 12:05. But DH has to be at work for a 9:00 appt tomorrow, and he has a 50-minute commute. We'll be up mighty early shoveling out if we do end up getting all that snow! UGH!
I have an appt with a physiatrist later this morning. My new PCP thought I should start here rather than with an orthopedic surgeon. She's also having me go to physical therapy - again. I start with them in two weeks. I can't even remember how many rounds of physical therapy I've been through. At least five. It does help, but at this point, I don't know how much more it can do. But I guess I need to go through all this stuff before she'll refer me to a surgeon...
accountability was OK yesterday, but I went to this program last night on regional Chinese cuisine and tried some of the food samples (I didn't eat much, though). The sodium killed me - waterlogged this morning and my weight is up. I hope the physiatrist's office doesn't weigh me!!
2 years 8 months out:
B: homemade Greek yogurt, 1 T tahini, homemade blueberry/blackberry sauce
MS: coffee with half & half, protein/Miralax shake
L: 1 C cottage cheese
AS: either 2 T peanut butter on celery sticks or a piece of crustless protein pumpkin pie (or L&F yogurt)
D: not sure. I really need to eat some salad, though, before these vegetables rot. Maybe that plus some sort of protein
hi
almost the weekend!! wahoo!
QOTD: before I forget- Someone told me to be a machine and do not allow off plan foods until you are at goal. that advise served me well and I was able to reach my weight goal, well waay under it. I intentionally went under my weight goal because in the end I wanted to be 135 pounds. this meant that there was a period last year where I probably looked 'too thin' and people did make comments. now that I'm over 2 years out things have equaled out and I look healthy.
Food for today:
egg bites with chicken sausage
HB egg whites
yogurt
pancakes (protein)
dinner is either stuffed chicken with spinach, pork loin, something like that. went to grocery last night- and STILL forgot stuff!! having to rebuild pantry after move also!
I reached the weight I'm at now about 14 months ago. Last year at this time a number of people said I was too thin. This year they have asked if I gained a bit back because they say I look better (not so "drawn"). Same weight... Maybe it is distributed differently or maybe they are used to how I look, but either way I'm ok right now (though I am having at the top of my range lately which I don't like).
