7-week post

Hi All!

I haven't posted anything in a couple of weeks, so I thought I would check in. I can't believe I'm at the 7-week mark. Part of me feels like I had the surgery forever ago and part of me feels like it's just beginning!

I've been getting into a much better rhythm with my eating and protein. I'm finally using the MyFitnessPal app to track all of my calories and nutrients. That has been really helpful over the past couple of weeks. I hit my protein goals pretty regularly now, but I'm still having issues getting in enough water. I've been drinking a lot of Diet Snapple, which my NUT said is fine, but I know it's no substitute for actual water.

I just starting working out this week (twice so far, but I think I can make a habit out of it). That has definitely helped me get more water in, though I'm sure I need even more than the minimum when it's a work-out day. I started with a 60-minute Zumba class on Monday and that was hard! I probably shouldn't have started out so cardio-heavy after not working out for a while, but it was fun and I got through it. Today was 50 mins on the treadmill (fast walk). I'm hoping to go at least 3 times a week to start and then up it once I get back in the groove. It was nice to hit 10,000 steps by early afternoon!

Speaking of groove, I don't want to jinx it, but I've lost almost a pound a day for the last week. Exercise/steps, protein and regular bowel movements have all contributed. I know that weight loss isn't sustainable for every single day, but it has been nice seeing the scale go down. I dread my next stall (whenever that may be), but I have realistic goals overall. Hoping to hit all my "markers".

My scars are still the worst. Hope they will drastically subside over the coming months. My doctor said that people with darker skin have a tendency to have darker marks around their scars and scars in general. Again, just hope it's temporary!

I've been keeping up with forum/posts and see so many people who are doing well! I hope that I can lose the weight and keep it off like so many of you here! Gotta hit my PEW (Protein, Exercise, Water. haha). Take care!

Glad to hear you're doing so well! We joined the gym 2 weeks ago and I started pretty cardio heavy doing a class called body pump. I've been doing that 3-5x a week but after the first class I could barely sit on the toilet for 2 days lol.

Im only 3 weeks ahead of you. Today was my 10 week mark.

Congrats! That's awesome. I definitely want to get up to 5 times a week working out! I am starting to feel some muscles ache, but not too bad! Sounds like you're doing really well. Kudos!

Congratulations! I'm at 7 week mark too. I haven't done any exercise other than walk. Kudos to you for the work you've done.

Glad MFP is working for you. Sometimes I forget to write it down. No scale at home so having to wait and see how I'm doing this weekend when I get scale.

Best wishes for continued success!

Thank you, surgery friend! It's probably for the best that you haven't had a scale accessible all the time! I check every day even though I know I shouldn't. Walking is great! I wasn't doing enough, so I feel like I have to step up my game now to see the best results. Best wishes to you too! :-)

I do also. It's a sick habit. lol! I work at a drs office too so even if I hid the one at home, I have one right next to my desk.

Right next to your desk!? Oh, man! Stay strong! (meanwhile, if I'm at home, I have to fight the urge to step on the scale every time I go to the bathroom... It's definitely a sickness!! ha)
