Introducing myself
Hi -
I had RNY surgery a week ago (1/30/2018) and wanted to become active on the OH boards since I don't know many people IRL that have had this. My surgery and recovery have gone really well, and today I'm looking forward to trying my first puree (refried beans and cheese, naturally.) I'm not sure what to expect, so will be lurking and joining in as I can - looking forward to making some new buddies!

Welcome! I'm 51/2 years post op and credit this site with helping me maintain my weight loss. Posting my menu daily and making friends keeps me focused and accountable. I went from a high weight of 273 to 118 to 120 and have maintained here for almost 5 years. I still weigh and measure my food and track protein and calories every day. Keep coming here and get ready for some amazing changes!
Welcome. This board is full of nice and supportive people. Congrats on your surgery.
Quick question : is refried beans on your surgeon's list of things to eat? I'm asking because it's full of carbs and I thought we are supposed to stay away from carbs.

It is one of the 5 things I'm permitted to have right now - the others are light/reduced fat cheese, plain greek yogurt, eggs, and either chicken or tuna salad (condiment only.) Beans in moderation are also on the "foods to focus on" list for later on - I think because they have so much fiber and nutrition despite the relatively high carbs?
