No pre-op liquid diet?
My surgery is scheduled for 2/20 and I realized that they had never said anything about this liquid pre-op 2 week diet that Ive heard so much about from others. So I called the surgeons office and asked and they said there is no pre-op diet but just dont gain weight, keep following your current diet. Im so surprised as I was dreading this diet for so long! Anybody else not have to do the liquid diet before surgery? Just seemed so odd.
I was never on the two weeks liquid diet but I was told I had to do it for two days before surgery. Mine was on Monday so I had to do it Sat & Sun. Check with them again because I know at a minimum they want you to be fasting for 12 hours before surgery. Good luck!

I think a lot of it depends on where you are, a lot of us liquid dieters are up in Ontario, Canada, and that seems to be part of the program here, but there hasn't been a diet need to follow presurgery for weight loss to qualify either, so count yourself lucky, I'm on day one of a 3 week liquid diet, surviving so far.

I'm in Georgia and had to do 2 weeks on bariatric advantage meal replacement shakes. 5 per day. I was allowed 4meals in that timeframe as well, just no solid food the day before. And I had to drink 12oz of Gatorade en route the morning of. I totally questioned that bc that goes against everything you're taught working in the medical field. And they said it reduces reflux and stomach pain post op.
