RNY surgery scheduled for Feb. 6th...what a bumpy ride!!
I am officially scheduled for RNY surgery of Feb. 6th...it has been a bumpy ride with many changes from my original plan to get to this point. I went in on Jan. 16th to have the VSG and the surgeon found a large Hiatal Hernia. So he stopped the VSG surgery. When they were removing the breathing tube, I went in to Atrial Fib. This led to me having to stay overnight in the hospital to be followed for the Atrial Fib. My Surgeon told me that the VSG is no longer an option that I have to have the RNY instead, but wanted me cleared by Cardiology. I saw the cardiologist last week, they would not clear me with out a Thallium Stress Test. I had the Thallium Stress Test a week ago and FAILED...I felt great during the test, but the results showed ischemia on the inferior and apical walls of my heart. I was scheduled for a Cardiac Cath on Tuesday of this week and thankfully the Cardiac Cath was totally clear. I have a heart that is healthy and has great perfusion, so as of Tuesday my cardiologist cleared me for my surgery scheduled for next Tuesday. Needless to say that time between the Thallium Stress test results and the Cardiac Cath were very hard. Imagining the worse and worrying about having damage that I some how did not know about scared the crap out of me.
So now that that roller coaster ride is over, I am totally focused on preparing my body for the RNY by sticking to the liquid diet for the second time. On Feb 6th, I will be going in for my 3rd surgery in 4 weeks and my body is feeling the strain. I have had more IV's in last three weeks than I have had in the last 14 years!! I am so ready to just get this done.
I want to thank everyone for their support on these forums, you have kept me sane through the rolloer coaster ride...

Wow, you've been through a lot. I'm so glad your heart is healthy; that must have been so scary.
I don't think I'd be brave enough to go for a 3rd surgery in 4 weeks. Wishing you all the best for an easy and quick recovery.
