help a general question well its complicated
thanks everyone for the support this truly has been an emotional roller coaster. i am very encouraged after reading your post. yesterday i was allowed to sign up for the very first step which is the seminar((2/22/18)). i'm very reserved on being happy. i pray its my time for this for surgery. i am going to keep positive and continue working for this. i am sure i will have to repeat the tests from 2004. i look at the scar on my belly and think in 2004 i wasn't truly doing this for the right reasons and i was taught a lesson. in 2018 i'm happy and want for the right reasons my health and a chance at maybe living longer. i have had 4 neck surgeries and 1 lower back surgery and my lumbar spine needs to be rebuilt and taking 125-130 pounds off can only help me. not to mention high blood pressure. i quit smoking over a year ago and i am eating healthy now so i am working towards the ultimate goal my RNY.
Something my therapist told me: there is no shame in also having a "vanity" goal. There are a lot of things that motivate different people. For me, I am highly motivated by my physical goals and my dreams of living an active life. That's about 70% of the reason I had surgery. Then there was not wanting to follow my dad's genetic path into heart disease and diabetes. And then there was just wanting to feel better, and look better.
Every reason for having surgery is a valid reason. There's no "right" or "wrong" here. :)
Thanks I will be honest I am so excited I can't Deny I want to wear cute clothes and go out and feel good about my body. My hubby loves me either way but he's excited for me. Plus getting healthy is the Ulitimate goal. Thanks ffor your post and this site is Awesome and I look forward to sharing my progress!!!
