I have read that so many times and watch Utube videos too on people who had sleeve & so many complain of heartburn. That?s one thing I already have at least 2x a week and really can?t imagine living with that issue is why I first wanted the sleeve but now leaning towards Gastric Bypass. Thank you.
What would you do different knowing what you know now?
I would consider the DS, but so far the RNY has been wonderful! I'm really super glad I had this surgery!
Do you regret having the surgery?
Nope, not even a little!!!! Best choice I've ever made.
Can you eat small amounts of sugar or sweets?
Yes, sadly my iron gut was not impacted by surgery. There is a limit - If I both overeat (fill my pouch) and eat sugar I'm going to be miserable!!!
Whats the worst thing & most positive out of your experience?
Worst thing? Maybe a few weeks of tenderness post surgery? TMI WARNING my erm... bowel movement is less compact and solid - the first few months I could NOT TRUST A FART. Neither of these things are even mildly upsetting let alone bad.
Positive thing? OMG the energy!!! I can DO things I didn't even realize I had stopped doing. Like jump up off the couch to fetch something from another room without it being even slightly disruptive. I can't even find the words to explain. But before I'd be all "While you're up..." now I just get up and do it - it's so freaking effortless to just get up and DO STUFF. I'm pretty confident that I'm in better physical shape today than I have ever been in my entire life. I wasn't a fat kid, but i wasn't a fit kid either.
And I'm not going to lie, it's pretty cool catching my reflection in the office windows and seeing a size six looking back at me. Yes it's vanity sizing but OMG it's still a freaking size SIX!
