What's on your Menu Today (Tuesday) RNYers?
Good morning! Last night I walked home through the snowing and blowing nonsense, and didn't even go in the house. Just grabbed a shovel. I was half done the driveway before I realized I hadn't removed my backpack. LOL This morning I got up early and shoveled again (had the backpack on intentionally this time) and cleared off the van, then walked in to work again. What a brutal walk! 15% of the sidewalks were cleared, and that is being generous. Slows me down and makes it harder. I like the extra workout, but I spent most of my adult life being the tortoise, and I'm the hare now except I've already won the race. Going slow just plain sucks.
Menu: B: protein bar and sipping a coffee in a little bit. MS: shake. L: Protein bar. AS: Shake. Supper: Unknown but plan forward. All vitamins, and tons of water.
I have really got to portion out and package the cucumbers and cottage cheese, yogurt, etc. tonight that I usually take for snacks, and not rely on the bars. Just wasn't able to this morning with all the extra shoveling I knew I had, I was running out of time before I had to leave so I grabbed the quick option. They're not so bad, but they're not my number 1 choice.
I had drum lessons last night and a late supper (chicken, steamed veggies, a few of these bean-chip things we found at Costco, and 3 cubes of steamed potato with skins and a curry spice, which was a treat). I weight in this morning, down 2.6 lbs from yesterday. I'll take that.
QOTD: I grew up on the farm and a child of the 70's and 80's, and there was a lot more snow in my neck of the woods then too. I remember digging a tunnel down through a snow drift, and finding the garage roof. I didn't know I was over it. I loved tobogganing, riding the skidoo, hunting, ice fishing, building forts, anything really, I was never inside. I learned survival skills from years of cubs/scouts/survivalists and often built snow shelters and camped in them. So much fun!
Daisy; re your snow driving comments, I'm reminded of a funny quote I saw floating around on facebook:
"If you rarely drive on snow, just pretend you're taking your grandma to church. There's a platter of biscuits and 2 gallons of sweet tea in glass jars on the back seat. She's wearing a new dress and holding a crock pot full of gravy." This should be a mandatory mantra in any driver's ed course.
Stay safe out there on the streets!

Mornin'!
I really need to get out of the house so I can stop by the gym on the way to work - why can't I get motivated this morning???
I'm going to try to eat less salty foods today because I'm feeling really waterlogged again this morning. Why is everything I like so damn salty?? (beef sticks and taco meat yesterday did me in). Thinking of a menu as I'm typing this...
Accountability was good yesterday. I was having a big pouch day, but I managed to stick to my plan.
QOTD: I liked ice skating and tobogganing as a kid. As an adult, I don't like being outside in the cold....or slipping around on the snow and ice. Ugh! I spend more time exercising indoors in the winter.
2 years 7 months out:
B: homemade Greek yogurt with extra protein powder, raspberries
MS: coffee with half & half, protein/Miralax latte shake
L: I think I might take homemade pumpkin yogurt with 1/4 C bran cereal
AS: L&F yogurt or a protein bar
D: this one is hard. Everything I can think of pretty salty (chili, taco meat, teriyaki stir fry). UGH. I'll think of something....
ex: cross-trainer this morning and yoga this evening
Good Morning! Today is another busy one with at least four phone interviews to conduct. Really makes the day fly by though. Daisy, how is your bruised backside from your fall?
Accountability: I ate a few of these little cashew bites after lunch (think trail mix squares type of thing) and last night I ate some Arctic Zero and a banana.
QOTD: Aside from rain, winter wasn't too much of a difference for us so usually just roller skating.
Time since surgery: 3 years 5 months
B: SF latte, eggbeaters, ½ an orange and 2 turkey sausage links
L: Albacore lettuce wraps and baby carrots
S: Salami, Carbmaster yogurt, and mixed nuts
D: Smoked sausage, cauliflower mashers with cheese and bacon crubmles
ES: Homemade Greek yogurt with SF jam and ¼ cup fiber cereal
E: 6 miles ran this morning and 40 mins of elliptical at lunch
V/W: On track
Totals: Cals:1197 Protein:107 Carbs:63 Fat:61
Have a great one!
Good morning everyone!
Aacountability: I was on point yesterday.
Menu:
I spent a couple hours on mfp figuring out today's menu to get my carbs and protein right and stay within 800 calories. After all that, my DH just asked me to go shopping with him (he desperately needs some dress slacks for church) and have a late lunch out...so back to square one, lol. My guess is he want to have Chinese for lunch because of where we are going, so I will probably have some chicken and veggies. I just hate how everything there has sooo much sodium and hidden calories, but I am determined to be very cautious.
Breakfast is a egg white scramble with chopped peppers and onion with 2 oz. ham and a couple reasons of taco sauce for a little kick.
qotd: my sister, brother and I love to go sleigh riding on a dirt road hill by my grandparents farm. If we were really brave we do the first hill on the road but had to be careful because if you lost control you could end up over the drop off into the icy creek below. So we would usually go to the the second hill which was a little safer. We also like to make snow forts and snowmen.

Nothing Tastes as Good as Healthy Feels!
Good morning. Hope everyone is doing well today and not too cold or not fighting the flu. Man this is a crazy year! I'm doing well with my program and back on track - though, I didn't stray too far over the holidays. I did impose a new rule which seems to be helping. I love just a pinch of cream in my coffee in the morning and it can't be from the little pour containers - has to be refrigerated. I measure it at 1oz. [the Premier Vanilla idea worked well for me with protein oatmeal or protein cereal products - as I like those sweet, but not coffee]. Oddly that 1oz of cream is perfect for me, but unless I pour it myself I can never get the DK or Starbuck's to hit that mark. Well I'm only allowing myself that cream if I hit my targets from the day before. Since I didn't plan for eating 2 pcs of dark chocolate and an ounce of pork skins last night - nope, it's black today. I'm down 11 pounds since 1/1 and getting close to the 300 pound loss mark.
QOTD - Everyone thinks I'm nuts but I love, love, love snow. At heart I'm a runner, roller skater and yes, snowshoer. I honestly never thought I'd think of those terms to describe myself again. I have 3 goals this year - 1 for each of those three things. I bought a new pair of running shoes on Cyber Monday and just this weekend (Erewhon, a local mountain outfitter - NOWHERE spelled backwards apparently) had an inventory sale with everything 20 off. I bought a great pair of snowshoes. My old ones are almost 18 years old and were real cheap. I can't wait. Come on snow!!!
B - 2 hard boiled eggs and 2 turkey bacon (I only eat 1 yolk)
S - Light and Fit yogurt and .5 ounce of almonds
L - Small Salad and 70 cal salmon package
S - In a meeting all afternoon so eating Quest chips vs. my shake (I only like the cheddar flavor, but love near carbless chips)
D - Small amount of veg stir fry with some turkey meatloaf
S - popsicles
This is from the blizzard of 2011 - I had joined the gym in 2010 and went from 490 to about 300 (pictured at that weight) before I regained and reached a new high of 510. Oh that's the middle of my street and that's after several plow passes. We had 3 feet of snow up our driveway to the garage door. The dogs loved that year too. Oh and I made some new friends while I was out walking that day. Lots of people with dishes needed me to bang the snow off their dish - as I said there was about 3 feet of snow up against houses. Many of them elderly. It was fun to help.

Northern suburbs of Chicago. I?ll never forget the 1 day sale to close their Woodfield Mall store. I just happened to be stopping buy to pick up a small item when they opened the door for the day and put a 50% off everything sale sign in the window. My wife said i literally started vibrating. It looked like I won a spending spree. People were running around grabbing everything. I had my wife stand near the line until a few people were there and I?d make pit stops to drop stuff off. I?m just getting back into those clothing items.
