Good morning! This morning before our road trip to celebrate my dads birthday at a Brazilian BBQ place, we are doing some running around to Costco and the Vitamin Shoppe to buy some stuff for my upcoming liquid diet. I'm hoping Premier Protein is still on sale at Costco, but they also had bone broth in bulk, and I think I'll go through it. I remember during DH's liquid phase we both got sick to death of all the sweetness of the protein shakes. I'm also hoping to find some unflavored protein to add to that broth, and some grapefruit Syntrax. Oh, and at Costco I found some pre-cooked packaged chicken skewers! DH can microwave and eat with whatever sauce appeals to him. Each skewer had about 2 oz of chicken I believe, which is about what he can eat of chicken.

Qotd: my NSVs will include shopping at regular stores, crossing my legs, and sitting more comfortably in chairs with arms. Oh! And squatting/crouching in the garden with less pain will be huge.

Breakfast: scrambled eggs and chicken maple sausage links

lunch: unsure since we'll be out and about but probably nothing crazy since we'll be eating out for dinner

dinner: something from this menu:https://www.carnavalbraziliangrill.com/ it's al pretty protein friendly. Jeremy is thinking about the bacon wrapped loin tips, and I'm contemplating doing the all-you-can eat option simply so I can sample al the new things (I will use moderation and only take sample-sized servings)

happy weekend, everyone!

that Syntrax Grapefruit is especially good mixed with Crystal Light lemonade - tastes like Fresca! I drink it in the summer a lot

Unjury makes a chicken broth-flavored protein powder which many (not all...) WLS patients like. You can only get their products on their Web site, though, and you have to buy something like four or six items to get the free shipping. Plain protein powder in broth should do the trick, though.

They did not have grapefruit in stock, sadly so I got fuzzy navel which I also liked. And I have tried the Unjury chicken soup, but I thought this might be a bit more economical since you don't get as many servings for your money with the Unjury, plus you can only order it online. I don't have a problem with online ordering but I also figured I could use unflavored in other stuff so...probably way too much thought went into the decision but buying a whole big drum of powder is kind of an investment lol

Good morning everyone! Today is a nice relaxing day, walk the dogs, shopping, lunch out and we are bowling today! Later we will BBQ and watch a movie, Lord of the Rings - I still cannot believe Rob has never seen this movie! Anyway, I love it and have watched it more times than I can count.

QOTD - I wanted to be able to move without pain and not get tired, be able to sit anywhere- comfortably and not stand out as in be noticed for just being big - I just wanted to blend in mostly.

Accountability - good, but I had an unplanned spoonful of almond butter

14 mo post op

b-coffee w/hc, scrambled eggs

l-chicken breast, small side salad

d-BBQ meat TBD

v/l on track

Have a wonderful day everyone!

Has your son been able to write yet? I am thinking of him as he adjusts to military life.

No, not yet. I'm not sure yet when he will be allowed. I know we will receive a form letter in the next week with his address so I can start sending him my letters (I have 9 waiting to be mailed!). I CANNOT wait to hear from him so know he is okay! They say no news is good news and I hold on to that dearly. I'm a member of a few pages for his recruit company and recruit parents so I know what he is doing each day at least! I am just so in awe of it all! I'm so incredibly proud of him!!! Thanks for asking, Janet!

Good morning! I am going to the orientation for volunteering at the local animal shelter mid-day then to a craft fair in Venice (and maybe dinner there if DH comes).

Thank you everyone for your kind comments on my before/after photos. I think my eyes showed better in the current one partially because I wasn't smiling as much but I suppose it is also partially because the chipmunk cheeks are gone.

QOTD: Speaking of the above, I am happy to recognize my face again. It had turned into such a moon. Another big NSV was being able to walk for long distances energetically. First the back pain stopped, then the knees got better and by then I was light enough not to have hours of pain after walking in my feet!

1 year, 10 months post-op

B: eggs, cottage cheese and Canadian bacon

L: Tuna salad, pickles and cottage cheese

D: Out to dinner somewhere probably (fish most likely)

S: Halo Top ice cream

Mornin' Weekenders!

I was up early at my usual early morning yoga class - now I'm at a coffee shop waiting on a friend. I have some stuff to do for my civic organization if she doesn't get here soon. Later on today I may do weights at the gym and run by Target to see if I can find any frames I like for new glasses. Tonight DH and I are going to our yoga studio's 6th anniversary celebration.

Accountability - DH wanted Chinese food last night. I did the usual - ordered a dish with (non-fried) meat and veggies and skipped the rice. I went over on calories, but it wasn't awful. Feeling super bloated today, though. ALL.THAT.SODIUM.....

QOTD: boy - so many. I've been doing yoga for about 15 years, so throughout my weight loss I was constantly discovering that I could get into poses that I couldn't get into before. About three months ago, though (well into maintenance phase by then...) I discovered i could do plow pose - holy cow!!

http://www.yogabasics.com/asana/plow/

other surprises - looking down at my legs when I got down to about 250 lbs and noticed they were crossed for the first time in about 10 years. I'd automatically done it and didn't even realize it!

The last one was trying on a pair of eyeglass frames a couple of weeks ago that I never would have picked out with my moon face and realizing they actually looked better than my current frames! (I now have a square face, I believe - so I look best in frames with round or oval shapes - those wouldn't have worked for me before..). Was not expecting that!

2 years 7 months out:

B: homemade Greek yogurt with Crio Bru grounds mixed in and fresh raspberries on top

MS: coffee with half & half, protein/Miralax mocha latte shake

L: maybe some skyr and 2 T peanut butter on celery sticks (??)

AS: raw veggies with Greek yogurt dip

D: we're going to that anniversary celebration tonight (and there will be food....), so I may just have a piece of protein pumpkin pie - or some other high protein, low calorie item...

I am so jealous of all your yoga. I keep trying it and it just hasn't worked for me yet. I feel so awkward and unbalanced that I get embarrassed and quit going. I need the stretching and balance work though. It would help my body greatly I know. Way to go!

I usually go for the gentle classes - the ones that a lot of us oldsters tend to seek out!! (this pose would NOT be one they'd typically do in a gentle class, though...)

tai chi is also good for stretching and balance work. I'd like to try some of those as well..
