Chipped nails, vitamin deficiency?
I'm in the same boat. All my numbers check out perfect on measures mentioned. Was suggested to try 10mg Biotin by the doctor. 3 months of product ran out yesterday. No change. Done! I'm not sure if takes longer to work way through the nail. Loved to hear others perspective, as prior to the surgery this was never an issue. Though the PA who manages post-ops (been doing this for years and is very good) doesn't see this often.

It will take a while to notice any change since the newer healthier growth grows out from the cuticle, so you'd have to wait until the nail has basically replaced itself. Like growing out your hair.

I've heard that Biotin helps with hair loss and I've also heard that it only makes you grow "unwanted" hair. I already have plenty of that!

Though this is cosmetic rather than nutritional, you might try using this stuff to help your nails, while being mindful of your vitamins, etc., of course:

vit B's and collagen proteins.
Collagen proteins. - like in jello, or hydrolyzed collagen. I like ZINT. I can mix it in anything. Or I just eat jello, SF jello.

Thanks Hala for this! I never knew to eat jello (aka collagen proteins). I am not a huge fan of jello but if it will help I will get myself some and eat it!
Appreciate the helpful suggestion!

Hi,
As others have said, there are many reasons, vit deficiencies, iron, thyroid or auto immune disorders ( I have sjogrens, lupus).
Would definitely get labs done to check stuff.
