Buy a ham. Spiral sliced, which is precooked.

He can grab a hunk, and either heat it u*****t.

You're on to something!

He dislikes lunch meat, but I think he'd go for ham.

Two years ago, I bought a half ham and ate nothing else for 9 days. It was cheap, too -- about 2 bucks a day.

Another time I ate nothing but bacon for three days, with the exception of 1 ribeye.

I?m gonna say he probably married you at least partially because he enjoys your healthy homemade cooking.

I too married an ex bariatric patient whose eating habits ( because he?s a man and wasn?t motivated to rock a bikini lol) were quite a bit different from mine - for instance he and my 600 lb son in law and father in law literally ate out in restaurants every single day .

"snack foods " from costco ( individual servings of carb traditional salty and sweet snacks) were a STAPLE that literally lived in tempting basket on the kitchen counter. Everyone but me actually considered these foods dietetic!

There are GREAT tasting foods and low-fat food substitutions you can cook at home. The results will be much fresher and better tasting than restaurants. However your family may rebel at the idea that they cant each order whatever they want to eat at that moment.

No kids, it's just the two of us and he's 8 months out from RNY. He's motivated now and has come a long way about being educated about nutrition. He's even come to enjoy certain veggies that he swore up and down he's never been interested in before. A lot of that is because his parents also never eat veggies besides basic canned green beans, peas, and corn. My concern is more that he still doesn't have any interest or skill in cooking beyond boxed or prepackaged foods, or things that are ready to eat straight out of the fridge.

I do not like to cook for myself since WLS. I do cook regular meals for my family but this is what I have in my house at all times for me. I portion in 4oz containers and keep in the fridge every week

2 containers egg salad/ minimal light mayo

2 containers tuna salad/minimal light mayo

2 containers LF cottage cheese

2- 2oz ziplocs of cubed cheddar cheese

2- 2oz ziplocs of deli ham or turkey

in the freezer I have Morningstar garden veg patties. (100 cal/10gms protein/9gm carbs/1gm sugar)

On Sundays, I cook one pot of something to portion out for the week. If I'm craving soup I will make soup or if I'm craving Pasta sauce, I make meat sauce. I always use bone broth in the soup to up protein. I enter all my homemade recipes into my fitness pal to make sure I don't accidentally over indulge.

Good luck!
