Thank you so much for the input and help.

I understand about not getting carbs from, bread, crackers, pasta, rice or potatoes. I dump even on a single bite of pasta, rice or potatoes...the starch I am thinking.......anyway, I always stay clear of that garbage. Makes me feel really ill just one elbow of macaroni when I test for if done (for husband's food).

What I can't understand is the carbs in yogurt, fruit (banana in my smoothie), even my fajita meat...are they ok?

They also have high percentages of protein so they are okay. Just keep the other carbs as low as possible.

You certainly are "allowed" to eat carbs. In fact my surgeon has wanted me to eat potatoes, bread, rice and crackers since the beginning and his nutritionist still gets upset with me when I tell her that I am eating low carb even in maintenance. It is just that many folks here on OH have found that carbs keep us from losing weight and that they are a super slippery slope into binging on carbs. Do what works for your body, but make sure that you are getting plenty of protein and fluids. They are key!

First, I'm asking this in all sincerity, since I didn't want you to think I was being snarky. You dump on even a bite of pasta, rice or potatoes, but you can eat banana? I have dumping syndrome and pasta, rice or potatoes do not make me dump. Those foods might not agree with me, but they don't give me actual dumping. I would absolutely, 100% guaranteed dump on a banana.

Just curious.

It's not snarky. Not sure why he banana in my smoothie didn't bother me. It must be the individual. I dump with anything with to much sugar or sugar alcohol in it. I get ill with even the smallest bite of pasta, rice of any kind or potatoes. My doctor told me some people don't dump at all and depend on the person. I have become a serious label reader. I didn't find the smoothie very satisfying though, so I threw out the rest of the bananas and the extra yogurt. I appreciate your input.

I never had fruit in the losing phase. The only carbs I had came from a very small amount of non starchy veggies. When the weight loss slowed down I even stopped yogurt because of the carbs.

Thank you for the response. I didn't find the smoothie very satisfying so I ditched the rest of the bananas and vanilla yogurt anyway. I do know some say to stay away from fruit because of the sugar. I generally dump on sugar and sugar alcohol but luckily the banana didn't make me ill.

I do eat fruit and have all along, but never very much. A few berries on my yogurt, or I'll occasionally throw 1/4 of a banana in a smoothie. I avoided white flour, rice, pasta, bread, etc like the plague though while I was in the losing phase. I still rarely eat them.
