Right now we're reading "The Girl Who Drank the Moon" by Kelly Barnhill. I'm only partway into the book, but it seems to be a good book. One that I really liked was "The Secret Horses of Briar Hill", can't remember author right now.

Happy Saturday Fellow Menu Peeps,

Am recovering from an incredibly busy work week today! Whew ... glad that's over.

Am traveling out-of-state today to go visit family over the long weekend. My parent's are elderly and are starting to show signs that they are no longer able to look after themselves. I've been trying really hard to get there at least one weekend a month to visit.

QOTD: My family and I recently joined a local church where we feel like we really belong. After years of not attending church at all - it feels good to be connected to other folks with similar beliefs.

Also, I joined a book club last month. One of my co-workers is a member of this same club and it sounds like they read interesting books and have a lot of fun socializing. (I haven't attended yet).

Before WLS I felt embarrassed by my appearance and turned down most social invitations. I refer to that time as my "self imposed exile". It feels really satisfying to have some confidence again and to get out there any engage with other people.

Menu:

B: Egg cup and coffee

L: Ham and black eyed peas

S: Cheese sticks

D: Steak

Have a wonderful day!

Good morning menu folks! It's 12 feels like 1 here in Illinois right now so Lily and I will walk right after lunch when temps are predicted to be a bit warmer(feels like 12). I want her to be able to walk as far as possible so I have less to do on the treadmill. Yesterday Lily and I did 1 mile later in the day and I did 4 on the treadmill. Boring! QOTD I belong to a very active church and am part of several groups there:a handbell choir,a Bible study,a knitting group and a group that meets once a month to go out for breakfast. Accountability was good yesterday with planned food eaten and nothing extra. Post op 5 years 4.5 months and weight at 118.2 today. Heres the food plan for today B 1/2 c steel cut oats with protein and peanut butter L 4 oz deli turkey and cheese 3 baby carrots D taco salad at local Mexican restaurant--I will NOT eat any chips--S sm apple with 1 T peanut butter. Have a great day everyone and take the time to make some good choices that put you where you want to be!

She is such a trooper and loves her walks. We went out at noon when the temp got to 17 and did our 4 miles. She wore her coat and I had 3 layers on and it was fun. Felt great to get out and get it done!

You're such a trooper, too, Karen! I'm a wimp when it comes to this bitter cold weather. Poor Blossom hasn't gotten as many walks lately.

Good morning! I'm heading in to the office to make up some of the time I was gone this week. Two days for hubby's surgery and Thursday was too icy to drive in. I don't want to burn through too many paid-time-off hours before surgery. I have plenty, but I like to keep a good cushion in case I need to be gone for something else.

Qotd: I do have A quasi-writing club made up of coworkers. We all write completely different things, but we meet up at Panera usually on a Sunday morning, and sit around drinking coffee and tea, occasionally one of us will order food. We bring our laptops and sit in companiable quiet and type, and occasionally one of us will ask the group to read a bit of their work for critique. Super relaxed. We've been so busy at work and all of us are in supervisory positions and working overtime so we haven't gotten together since October.

Breakfast: protein shake

lunch: work usually provides on the weekend but I'm taking some shrimp ****tail. The provided food has been pizza as of late and GASP I have no desire for it.

Dinner: unsure. Depends on if DH is home or if he busts out to go play games with his friends
