Just trying to throw as much info as I can at you that I have learned from the Vets. You have to do what works for you. We are all so different and I get and respect that everyone on OH eats very different.

I just know for ME its about the calories. I just can't go over 950 or I start a slow gain. Again for ME I would have to drop to 750 to start my weight loss again, but that's me. And its interesting, I weigh less than you, am more active than you and have to eat way less in calories than you LOL LOL just not fair! At a weight of 125lbs I should be eating 1250 calories a day, I can't even, I would be back gaining in no time.

Again just my opinion here and for what its worth I have yet to have seen any bad advice from the Vets on here, they always say "it comes down to the calories."

I respect that you do what works for you, just trying to offer a different perspective.

no worries - I always appreciate suggestions!

and yes - I've always felt really sorry for you having to eat so few calories to maintain - yikes. Although I know you're not alone in that. I think that a lot of people who've done a lot of yo-yo dieting over the years have kind of messed up metabolism, so they have to take in very few calories to keep their weight down. You're also trying to maintain a fairly low BMI. It's easier to maintain a higher one (duh!), although there's nothing wrong with wanting to be lower. I just couldn't go that low. I'm 5'6", but I have a large frame and am pretty muscular. I had a DEXA scan done about a year ago when I was 145 lbs (I'm now 146-148), and my body fat was 22%, which is pretty lean. The technician said it was OK, but advised me not to go too much lower, which is what my former PCP and current PCP said, too (I got down as low as 138 at one point, but bounced back up into the low 140s fairly quickly and stayed there for a long time....actually, until just recently...

I know that advice makes sense, but I can't bring myself to follow it. I'm almost 4 years out from my original surgery and want to drop 5-7 lbs. I track everything and barely eat 1000 calories. I cannot bring myself to drop to 500 cals a day to lose the weight, particularly with my exercise schedule. I'd pass out. I guess for me, it's going to be a battle of the wills in my mind. Which is more important . . . losing the 5 lbs or eating enough to keep me satisfied and active.

TOTALLY TOTALLY TOTALLY GET IT!

I just responded back to Catwoman that at 4 years out I can't eat more than 950 cals a day or I would gain and I am super active like you so its just not fair that I can't eat 1700 cals! LOL LOL

I know if I wanted to lose weight I would have to drop to 700-750 cals, I don't see that happening but at least I know what I need to do if I had to.

I feel ya girl, trust me I totally get it!

I did a challenge at the gym where we did a body fat analysis and a BMR test. It was pretty accurate, at least to the extent it correlated to the number my surgeon and dexa scan came out at. My BMR is 1239 (which sucks, given how much I exercise). The guy who did the test said that with my activity level, I should be able to consume 2000 cal a day. I laughed and laughed and laughed. I'd be a Macys Thanksgiving Day balloon if I did that.

Good Morning Daisy and Menu Family!

I hope you get to feeling better really soon, Daisy and everyone else who is ailing right now.

It snowed last night and the wind is howling here in Nebraska! Old man Winter is really showing his vicious side this year!

QOTD: It's been Saralisa's Birthday week and I baked her a cherry cake which has been calling to me every time I walk past it in the kitchen. I've had a few forkfuls of the cake and even had a whole piece (which made me feel kind of sick afterwards). It's almost gone now, thank goodness!

Accountability: Yesterday: Protein - 67, Calories - 1,281, Carbs - 105.

B: prosciiutto & mozzarella sticks, light & fit Greek yogurt

L: Healthy Choice pineapple chicken

D: crustless chicken pot pie

S: prosciiutto & mozzarella sticks, light & fit Greek yogurt, banana, 2 Atkin's peanut butter cups

E: Exercise bike

Have a FANTASTIC day everyone!

Birthday cake is my ULTIMATE weakness. I can't have it in our house other wise I would make myself sick by eating it all. I have been taking fruit trays to birthday parties so that when people bring out a cake I have a second choice of something sweet and I can say no to the cake.
