In regards to your so tired and no energy when is the last time you had full labs done? And what is your Iron Ferritin at? If you are still menstruating you want your Ferritin at 100 or higher to feel "normal" and not have the extreme tired and no energy. Low ferritin affects us so badly. Google low ferritin anemia/iron deficieny post gastric bypass. I menstrate very heavy each month and like my ferritin in the 200 range.

Here is a quick excerpt:

What are the symptoms of iron deficiency after gastric bypass surgery?

Iron has many important roles in your body. It's important for the health of your hair, skin, and nails. It also helps make hemoglobin. This is the substance inside red blood cells that carries oxygen throughout your body. When you are anemic because of iron deficiency, you may have:

  • Lack of energy
  • Weakness
  • Headache
  • Rapid heartbeat
  • Hair loss
  • Brittle nails
  • Pale or yellow skin
  • Shortness of breath
  • Chest pain
  • Strange pounding sensation in your ears
  • Craving for ice or clay (pagophagia)

Good luck with CAMAW!

I know I'm on the low side for iron levels. I had my one year follow up a little over a month ago and my surgeon told me it was pretty low and to take oral iron on top of the patches I'm using. I even started putting two ironpatches on AND the oral iron supplement haha! I do still menstruate but I have endometriosis so my other doc has been talking about a possible partial hysterectomy. I'm just gonna have to call my surgeon and see if he has any advice. I know part of it has to do with the time of year here since we only get about 4 hours of daylight and I'm working during those hours but I'm feeling more worn out than usual so there's definitely something amiss. Thanks for the good luck and excerpt, Daisy!

I hope you feel better soon! I am hoping to avoid colds and flu by being in a warmer climate (and surrounded by other illness paranoid folks).

QOTD: DONUTS. They were always my downfall and every time we are out with someone they point out "Abby's Donuts", with the "best hand cut donuts ever". Nope, I am not going in there! Or maybe I should and just have a coffee to get over my paranoia (worked with Dunkin Donuts)?

1 year, 9 months post-op

B: eggs, cottage cheese and Canadian bacon

L: tuna salad, pickles and cottage cheese

D: Either grilled chicken and salad or taco meat on lettuce.

S: Nut thins and hummus

Morning everyone!

It was 49 when I woke up, and as I got ready I could literally hear the winds moving in (gusts over 40mph), and when I got out of my car at work 2 hours later, it was 35 and the winds literally pushed me walking across the parking lot! ICK...

QOTD: Cheetos are my 'go to', I'm stressed and craving crap... I did have a 1 serving bag the other day when my BS tanked while I was out shopping... those and some beef jerky. Boo. I mostly crave wings though (as my regular craving)... it's weird, and I do I try to ignore it (low carb, but high calorie ratio, and right now I want these 5 pounds gone!), but sometimes I just go get them and enjoy the heck out of them. But not right now.

Accountability: I did well yesterday, no cheats/sneaks... but I wasn't rewarded either. Scale up almost a lb. Ugh. (probably bathroom issues, or payback for that bag of cheetos two days ago. I rarely react on the scale the very next day)

Breakfast: 3.5 ounces of chicken crack

Lunch: 4 ounces of ground beef taco meat with salsa

Snack: 3 ounces of fresh ham

Dinner: leftover chicken/broccoli/mushroom stir fry I made last night

Snack: Coffee... decaf... LOTS of it! LOL

Good morning! I hope you aren't getting the flu! It's wiped out so many, so horribly. They are dropping like flies in my office. I am becoming OCD about hand washing, wiping everything down with disinfectant, using hand sanitizer and paper towels so I don't have to touch anything - it's that bad. Oh my - feel better!

QOTD - I usually crave salty things, but my most recent cravings (lingering from the holidays I think) have been sweets. Cakes, pancakes, cookies...I couldn't stand it anymore and ended up going to GNC and bought protein cookies, protein bars and protein powder to use instead. It satisfied my cravings and I haven't wanted them since. I do have a bit of a stash left and while I'd like to think I'd used it only for damage control, I worry that I opened Pandora's box but so far so good. Ideally - I'd rather save this stuff just for maintenance.

Accountability - great!

13 mo post op - 157- YAY!

b- coffee w/hc, HB eggs

l- chicken, small cesar salad

d-eggs and bacon

Hope you feel better, Daisy. My office is like a petri dish right now. Everyone is sick with either a cold or a stomach virus. Trying to stay clear and stay healthy.

I could use some finger crossing or chicken swinging or whatever floats your boat. There appears to be something wrong with my dog Nikolai's eye. He won't really open it. I can see that it's a bit "gooey" and when I go to clean it out, he cries. Leaving work early today to take him to the vet. I'm hoping that he didn't do serious damage by rubbing it and that a round of antibiotics will fix him up. I feel horrible since it's been gooey for a few days, but with the funeral and everything going on, I haven't been able to take him until today.

DQOTD: My last craving was for an apple. I gave in. I had the room in my plan, I didn't eat much of my dinner (see discussion below) and I figured 1/2 a medium apple would be ok. I don't do it often because I don't eat fruit, but it was fine last night.

My plan:

B: 2 eggs scrambled, .5 oz cheddar cheese, everything but the bagel spice

L: Chicken thighs, if I can choke them down. I made them last night, seasoned them as usual and they have absolutely no flavor. Like I could barely eat them last night. The problem is there were a lot left over and I don't want to throw them out. I was thinking salsa could mask the flavor, but of course I forgot the salsa. Maybe I'll run across the street to pollo loco and raid their salsa bar. A beet

D: ????? depends on what time I get out of the vet. Maybe a bunless burger

S: I have a yogurt and bacon with me.

E: None given the pending vet trip.
