Sugar Free Jello Pudding - How does it make you feel?

Hey all! So, as most of you know, I am trying to get back to basics and cut out carbs, sugar, etc. I have been doing great and even feel more energy than most days. However, two days in a row, at about an hour after lunch, I've noticed that I have become extremely sleepy and sluggish. I couldn't understand where I went wrong and kept reviewing what I had for lunch. This usually happens only when I've had a heavily carbed lunch and I've been packing a high protein lunch since last week. I made a comment to my co-worker about how sleepy I was. She immediately said "The pudding!"

It hit me like "Oh my GOD!!!! That must be it!" I ran to look at the label. Sure enough, even though it's sugar free, it has 10 grams of carbs and 4 grams of sugar alcohol. I know that the sugar alcohol makes me feel sluggish normally but never thought to look at the pudding label for that.

Do you eat sugar free pudding? If so, how do you feel afterwards?

I never ate it because of that reason. It would make me feel bad and I would crave after having it I think.

I don't eat anything with sugar alcohols. They make me feel terrible. The only sweetner that I use is organic stevia in the raw. I stay away from the faux foods too.

Sugar alcohols make me feel awful and artificial sweeteners in general perpetuate carb cravings so I stay away from them too. Faux food bad, imo.

I tried it during the puree stage after surgery and it was a no-go and I haven't tried since. I can make my own using the box (instant kind) but not the pre-made portion cup kind. Like the others mentioned, for me it was the sugar alcohols. When I talked to my bariatric team about they suggested mixing the SF pudding powder with plain Greek yogurt and I did fine with that.

Yesss!! I remember doing this in my early stages and loved it! With time, I became lazy and wanted to feel like "normal people that can eat anything". Boy, am I learning that I will never be that way!

It makes me feel happy, and warm and fuzzy inside.

No adverse impact here, just sugar free gratitude!
