What's on your Menu today (Wednesday) RNYers?
Good Morning!
QOTD: I think I was researching WLS surgery as long as I had an internet....so on and off for 20 years....but back then the stories were scary. I was mortified anytime a Doctor suggested it to me. I did have a niece who had it at 25 and did really well like 10 years before.
What turned the tide was a GYN visit where I had the NP instead of the Doc. She mentioned it to me, but she was my age and somehow it didn't seem as intimidating. She also said her niece had had it done recently and was doing really well, and she didn't expect her to. A few days after that was Eastr and I saw my niece and I asked her if she was still happy she had it done. She said absolutely. She challenged me as to what I was afraid of....and basically told me I needed to get out of my head.... which was so true of me.
Went to seminar that week- end of April, had surgery end of July. Was terrified every step of the way, and couldn't believe I was doing it.
B: Carbquik pancakes (carbquik and premier protein) with pomegranate seeds, drank rest of premier

Good morning everyone. I haven't posted in a while. I actually made a new account, I could not remember the old login/password. It was all saved on our other computer and it crashed.
QOTD- I went to my information seminar in March and had surgery in November. My husband was deployed at the time in Afghanistan. I had thought about having the surgery over the years and kept thinking I could do it on my own. When ever I would bring it up with my primary doctor, he would always discourage me and tell me how drastic it was. I started seeing a new doctor and I love her. She actually did her residency in Arkansas and work with many baratric patients. She said that this surgery is life changing and she was so right!! She has been very supportive!! My grandmother also had gastric bypass in the 80's. She was not successful and gained back all her weight. She died at 67 after a heart attack and massive stroke. She was insulin diabetic, high blood pressure and was over 600 lbs. I love and miss her every day!!
My food for today-
B- 1 egg, 3 oz black forrest ham, 1 oz light motzarella, fire sauce
L-1 spicy chicken sausage, 1/2 c. green cabbage sauteed
S- chomps beef stick
D- 4 ounces shredded chicken breast with fresh pico salsa
V- planned and set out
E- weight training with my son. We are doing lower body today. 30 minutes elliptical
Water- goal of 120 oz, already drank 40.
Calories- 650, carbs 8, protein 80
Have a great day, stay strong. Be kind.

Good morning everyone~ I'm starting to freak out a little about my son leaving for boot camp a week from Sunday, OMG. In my head I was still thinking I have 5 weeks with him. Between the holidays, my dad, work, planning a party for him next Saturday and reading up on anything and everything I can get my hands on to support him the time is just flying - way too fast! I'm so excited and happy for him, but it makes me want to cry;( gonna miss my kiddo so much.
QOTD - My doctor had mentioned WLS over the years a few times. I wan't interested because it scared me. I finally agreed to go to the meeting, but then blew it off. It wasn't until my sister started talking about it that I started to research it further. I finally went to the meeting with her was totally blown away. I met with the surgeon a month later and 6 months after that, I had the surgery.

Howdy,
QOTD: Well my story is loooong. I started looking at WLS in early 2003. Got a lapband in June 2003 and I was probably within the first 1,000 band placements with an Inamed band. At the time, United healthcare approved it. I weighed 340 ish at the time and smoked a pack a day. Figured it would kill me if I didnt stop eating and smoking. Lost 150+ pounds and then started regaining over 5 years due to a prolapsed band. Then a revision from lapband to sleeve. Got another 9 years and lost 70 lbs and got to a new low of 160's. Then the reflux, hernia, swallowing and throwing up problems and converted to RNY. None of these decisions or processes took long and I was able to get insurance approval each time for different medical reasons.
Food for the day:
Lots of coffee and carbonator ff milk
Tuna package and arugula salad with some sort of feta
Yogurt chicken with lemon and cauliflower mashers
Carbonator yogurt with PB powder
Maybe a cheese stick somewhere in there?
All vits, water, less than 25 carb grams and less than 750 calories
Babs in GA

200 lbs lost and 17 pounds below goal !
Hello Everyone,
Haven't had the time I'd like to read posts but I want to at least post my menu.
Qotd; I had a lapband put in in 2006 which had caused tons of problems that I really didn't realize until about 2016. It took about a year once I decided to do the revision before I had surgery. Just wish I'd decided years earlier. Off all meds and no longer have reflux or rosaeca!
Accountability: CAMAW 2nd day was good although I had a long drive back late at night from Boston and although I wasn't hungry I added some cheese and prosciutto to munch on to keep me alert so my calories were higher. Still felt like a win cause I stayed with CAMAW and resisted the protein bar in my glove box
B: coffee and premier protein, leftover chicken
S: Babybel, Volpi roll
L: leftover pork from carnitas
S: protein hot choc with coffee

Happy Wednesday. After the rain, we're sunny and in the 60s. The mudslides are horrible though. Everyone knew it was going to happen because of the fire damage, but it's sooo bad and sad.
DQOTD: I was in denial for a while, but when I found myself canceling appointments at my cardiologist because I didn't want to get in the scale, I knew there was a problem. My information seminar was January 29, 2014. I had my psych and dietitian appt. on President's Day 2014 and had surgery May 12, 2014. So from beginning to end, 4 months.
My plan:
B: 2 eggs scrambled, .5 oz cheddar cheese
L: leftover steak, 1 beet
D: Chicken thigh meat and probably 2 asparagus spears
S: I have bacon and a light and fit zero with me. I'm taking 2 classes at the gym, so probably a mini Kind bar between classes so my blood sugar doesn't crash
E: spin and TRX
Good Afternoon Menu Peeps,
It has been a hectic work week and feels as though it should already be Friday!
QOTD: It took me more than 3 years from the time I first inquired about WLS until I finally had the surgery. My husband is retired military, so I started out seeking the surgery through a military hospital. The wait times for appointments was CRAZY long (I sometimes waited months to be referred for the required tests). I gave up on the military hospital after about 9 months of feeling like I was getting nowhere.
Ended up going to a "private" surgery group but my health insurance wouldn't approve me b/c my BMI wasn't high enough and I didn't have the right comorbidities. (This was after I went through all of the nutrition classes, supervised weight loss and all of the required testing.) I was 3 - 4 pounds from being heavy enough to be eligible for surgery. I can't tell you how dejected and hopeless I felt when I received the denial.
I finally went back to the "private" surgery group about 18 months later and I was willing to self-pay. The surgeon's office called me back later that week and let me know that my insurance co had approved the surgery for me (my weight had crept up so that I was now eligible).
Menu:
B: Egg cup and coffee
L: Leftover chicken curry
S: Cottage cheese
D: Beef stew
Have a great day everyone!
good morning everyone! It's cold and dark here. Having such a hard time getting a smile on my face lol. This winter is so depressing!
qotd: I feel like I thought about it for years and then after I got to a certain age I decided it was time to take the plunge and get serious about it because I didn't want to slowly get even less healthier and look back only to think "man, I really missed out on life".. once I finally made up my mind to do it I think the process was about 7 months of jumping through hoops for insurance and so on. Totally worth it though!
b- syntrax
l- chicken sausage
d- naked pulled pork and a meatball
s- almond butter
s- maybe Greek l&f if I can shake the sweet craving
v- patches, oral d3 and iron
e- busting my butt at work today and feeling pretty weak the last month or so. Might give myself a pass :-/
hope everyone is having a good day!

Hi all, happy Wednesday!
Busy day today here, catching up with orders, and in between packing! I still don't know where I'm going to move. I'm just a couple of days shy of being 7 months post-op and all is well. I'm looking forward to see what my loss for the month will total.
QOTD: My old PCP mentioned WLS to me once about 3 years ago, but I rejected the notion as being too extreme and dangerous. Plus I was adept at losing, having gotten all the way down several times (only to begin regaining within the next 18 months or so every time), and I still thought I could grit my way to success through sheer power of will, if I only tried hard enough. Then about 2.5 or so years ago I was having blood drawn for my thyroid testing, and the nurse doing the draw told me that she and both of her daughters had had RnY surgery. She told me a little about her successful experience, and from that point on I started turning it over in my head as a possibility. What finally triggered me to begin the process was getting insurance which would cover the surgery. It still took me a little over a year to actually work through it internally, even though I was approved immediately - I had years of documented attempts at weight loss. Initially I wanted, and was approved for, VSG surgery, but over time I decided that I would likely be more successful with the RnY. Beyond having developed an uncomfortable degree of acid reflux, my decision to have the RnY was influenced by seeing my wonderful neighbor lose about 60 pounds after her VSG, only to stop short and remain obese. I didn't want to go through WLS only to remain obese, so I opted for what I felt would be likely to be a more steadfast tool. Plus my surgeon is amazing, and head of a Bariatric Center of Excellence. I couldn't have been in better hands!
First: tea with cashew milk, Cinnamon Buns protein drink
B: turkey
L: roast beef, a tiny bit of broccoli
D: roast beef, cheddar, sauteed mushrooms
Have a wonderful day my friends!
