Thank you for your words of wisdom. I have a house full of treats here too and it's driving me crazy. I do great if there's nothing in the house, but I feel out of control and scared with all of the junk around me.

I'm the same way. If the christmas cookies weren't at home I wouldn't be going through nearly as much hell when I'm there. Couple more days and if they still aren't eaten they are going with my husband to work or in the garbage. I'm not eating them but it so hard to see the can just sitting there on the counter.

Good Morning Erin and Menu Family!

It's a balmy 4 degrees here in Nebraska, feels like -8 degrees. I'm so tired of this bitter cold weather. I am NOT a winter person!

QOTD: A friend of mine has gone on a diet and lost quite a bit of weight. She said I inspired her.

Accountability: Yesterday: It was Saralisa's birthday and I made her a cake. I resisted it, until the middle of the night last night. I was just going to take a small taste, but one bite led to another bite and another bite. I added the calories onto my total for yesterday, so yesterday's totals are high. Protein - 77, Calories - 1,580, Carbs - 148.

B: prosciutto & mozzarella sticks, light & fit Greek yogurt

L: alfredo chicken

D: turkey meal

S: prosciutto & mozzarella sticks, light & fit Greek yogurt, 2 Atkin's peanut butter cups

E: Walking Blossom or exercise bike if too cold.

Have a WONDERFUL day everyone!

~ Karen

At least you were honest and totalled the calories in for the cake. I suspect you're like me,Karen, and will fight the sweets your whole life. I know I've found that the "diet" sweets like the Atkins sugar free candies and even protein bars eaten too often increase my urge to eat the real treats too. Its a battle all day every day for sure.

Hi all, happy Saturday!

I really need to be focused and disciplined this weekend. I have several orders to prepare for shipment and have lots of products to make up, as inventory is low. Beyond that I need to pack (and pack, and pack...). I bought seven gargantuan wheeled and lidded tubs which should hold a lot and which are stackable, but need to get some banker's boxes for all those books as well as various and sundry items. I really dislike moving!

Honestly, I don't see my post-op good habits rubbing off on anyone at all! But I live by myself, so that makes sense.

Yesterday I had to drive down along the ocean. The fog was so incredibly thick that it was very hard to drive - visibility was almost non-existent for almost the entire length of my trip both there and back. I just crawled along, trying to stay close enough to the cars in front of me to keep their tail lights from disappearing altogether in the mist. Even though it made for strained driving, it was so mysterious and mystical, to be enveloped in mist which seemed to alter everything, so that the world was neither fully land nor fully sea -but more sea than land. "All the World hath Suffered a Sea Change, into something Rich and Strange" - the Tempest is one of my favorite plays.

First: tea with cashew milk, vanilla protein drink

B: turkey

L: ham, little bit of refried beans, SF BBQ sauce

D: filet mignon

Have a beautiful day!

I meant to ask this in my earlier post, but forgot.

I am finding in this cold snap that I am hungrier than normal. For the last few days, I've just been hungry every hour or two. I've done pretty well with just having proteins and a little fruit and nuts, so not really off plan, just that I seem to be hungry all the time. I'm drinking alot more hot beverages too...mostly herbal tea and decaf coffee, and I'm not sure if that is making any difference.

Does the same thing happen to others? I have heard that the body uses more calories to stay warm but that seems like alot.

Thanks for your input!

I hear you, Janet! I think being cold makes me want to eat something warm to warm myself up. Sometimes I drink some beef broth. That helps warm me up without adding a lot of calories.

Yes, I've been experiencing something similar since it has gotten so cold and thought it was just me.

Have been drinking warm chicken broth to fight off the "extra hungry" feeling. Am really craving some of the comfort foods from my previous WLS life ... hence some heavy head hunger is going on for me.

that probably does have a biological basis. It does take more calories to keep warm than it does to keep cool or maintain body temperature. A lot of people seem to crave more, or heartier, food in cold weather. I'm hungrier now, too - wasn't sure if it was colder weather or just the amount of time that's elapsed since surgery, but I've tried to make sure I'm getting protein, fiber, and healthy fat to keep it under control.

Hi all! I've been up since well before the sun. Hit the gym, only to find my watch wasn't charged, ugh. So I did a quick 3 miles and some weights, the watch only lasted 2 miles though. I'm two days away from my next achievement so I need to make up for what was missed.

Saw the nutritionist this morning- it was a good visit. She likes my 'treat of the month' plan and suggestsed a slight tweak which I'll do. Also gonna try incorporating 'tea time' at work as a means of getting a few minutes of peace during the work day.

Qotd: I wish there was a habit that was running off in those around me. In my house I'm a lone warrior. Same at work.
