Good morning. Back on the stick after the first is going very well. I'm almost doing CAMAW this week. I was in maintenance mode holding steady between Thanksgiving in New Year. A successful failure, as I just added carbs back and did some bites licks and tastes of sweets. In the end I learned that most of the stuff out there just didn't do the same for me as before surgery. I realized that the foods didn't live up to the hype in my head. I've put all those "favorite food" memories back into the box and am focused on my 3 goals for 2018. I want to snowshoe - come on snow, but leave the cold up by our Canadian friends (sorry); run a 10K by year end (former marathoner, so really want to see how my knees do by the Spring) and go roller skating (a passion I haven't done since 2010 - the last time I was at a weight I could do it). I'd rather work towards those things then eat off-profile foods. So I like that I learned that sweets and other food addictions I had have moved to a different place. They've lost some of their power over me with that learning. The test so far is that there still is lots of left over holiday food everywhere and I've just passed them up without temptation. While too risky, I'm glad I learned what I learned and am moving on. I'm not sure if and when I open the box, as I realize now it might just be worth leaving it closed permanently. However, as any true addict - I'm just focused now on not eating those foods today. Not worried about tomorrow.

QOTD - love Brussel Sprouts. Eat them in stir fry all the time and love them really roasted with balsamic vinegar dizzle. Though I don't get the deep fried versions in restaurants now. I tried a few versions of that over the holidays and man they were just greasy messes that relied on fatty sauces to make them taste good. I'm not doing the "crispy" BS things again. However, as a Coumadin patient I do have to be very careful how much I eat - as it has lots of vitamin K and can knock me out of range. You can eat them, but have to eat consistent K levels daily (which is hard, as I don't want to eat BS daily).

B 2 hard boiled eggs (only 1/2 of one egg yolk)

S Fage yogurt and .3 oz pumpkin seeds

L 3.5 oz roasted chicken and small salad

S Syntrax shake

D 3 oz lamb roast and small salad with some 3 tbs spicy veggies from TJ's

S SF popsicles

HW 510 / SW 424/ GW 175 (stretch goal to get 10 under) / CW 160 (I'm near the charts ideal weight - wonder if I can stay here)

Mornin' Menu Crew!

I heard on the radio this morning that the warm up this weekend will only be a brief respite from the bitter cold. It's back next week. Crap. At least we don't have much snow (I think it's been too cold to snow....).

Working remotely this morning.

Accountability was fine yesterday, but weight is still up. Ugh. It's got to be either backup or sodium. Hopefully I'll be down a pound tomorrow.

QOTD: I'm overly sensitive to bitter tastes (this even showed up in my DNA, which I found interesting), so I sometimes react negatively to cruciferous vegetables. Even cole slaw sometimes tastes really bitter to me. re: Brussels sprouts, it depends on how they're cooked. They're OK if they're roasted with some tasty accoutrements, like bacon or some kind of potent sauce. Otherwise, they're often way too bitter.

2 years 7 months out

B: homemade plain Greek yogurt with 1 T tahini, 1 T Crio Bru grounds, and 1 T pumpkin butter

S: coffee with half & half, protein/Miralax latte shake

L: if I go into work, then cottage cheese. If I'm home, maybe some baked beans & the last remaining egg cup

AS: raw veggies & Greek yogurt dip (or if I'm home, L&F yogurt or a piece of crustless protein pumpkin pie)

D: chili

I have seen that for a bit now you are struggling with a few pounds of weight gain and you keep saying its "backup or sodium." Ever considered its your calorie count? Maybe your honeymoon period is over and you need less calories now. For an experiment you could try 200 or so less calories for 2-3 weeks and see what that does.

I am not trying to be *****y here by any means but I am 4 years out and I am extremely active with step classes, muscle pump classes, running on the treadmill and hiking my dogs in the snow and I can't eat over 950 calories or I start to gain. And most of my calories come from straight protein as I still do super low carb as I am so carb sensitive. I just wanted you to try something different and see if it helps/works.

Good luck.

I'm sure that's part of it. If I stay at or under 1700 kcal consistently, my weight starts to drop. The problem is I'm going over about 3x a week. Not by a lot, but enough that it's probably keeping me where I'm at. Although the last couple of days have been OK....at or under 1700.

and yes - I'm sure calorie malabsorption is over - but again, a 1700 calorie limit seems to do the trick for me.

I'm actually still within a normal BMI (my range goes up to 154 lbs), so my doctor is fine with my weight, but I'd kind of like to be back at 140. But then I have to decide which is more important - cutting back on calories to get back down there, or staying where I'm at.

We dodge the snow, but the coast got hammered. A co worker, who wouldn't leave yesterday when we all said she should, nearly got stranded and it took her 3 1/2 hours to make an hour commute. Only snow I saw was falling off cars on the interstate.

QOTD: I used to like them, and DH didn't, now we've swapped tastes, go figure.

Yesterday, I was a little off calorie count, so really keeping an eye on it today.

B-eggs, hot tea w/half and half, banana

MS-skinny hot chocolate

L-chicken breast, small amt of dressing, salad

AS- hot tea w/half and half

D-Not sure, but will choose wisely .

Have a good day

Good Morning!

Working today as well. But only until 2:30, having my 4 week post op appt today at 4:15 and the office is a little over an hour from my house. (It's really been 5 weeks but due to the holiday he was on vaca last week) :-)

QOTD: I do not like Brussels sprouts, nor do my kids, but my husband loves them. I grew up calling them "green balls of death" But it was probably b/c my mom boiled the heck out of them and the whole house smelled so bad. I roast them all the time for my hubby, I buy the fresh ones, chop in half, then toss in olive oil, fresh chopped garlic, pepper and cayenne pepper. He absolutely loves them.

Menu:

B: 1 scrambled egg, and 1/2 piece of sausage

L: Ham and pickle wraps again (I'm loving that I can have pickles again..lol) This was supposed to be a snack but I've been so busy at work this am that I haven't had time to stop.

D: Sausage and Peppers cooked in tomatoes
