2 week post-op update
My first reaction to what you said was why are you trying to push what you can eat. You need to be cautious and let your pouch heal.
Second, my surgeon also suggested carbs like mashed potatoes, bananas and crackers early on, but being here on OH and hearing from the successful vets, I learned that I can't eat carbs like that. Eat protein, protein, protein. Kick the carbs to the curb. You won't be successful and you will struggle with cravings if you start off with carbs. While my surgeon promotes carbs in his diet plan, he also thinks that losing only 50% of your excess weight is success. I lost 100% of my excess weight in 8 months and only once I hit maintenance did I add in some fruit carbs (berries and apples) and small amounts of oatmeal.
If you want success, ignore your surgeon's nutrition plan and stick to dense protein.

Thanks for your reply! This is helpful (and written very kindly). I'm on here to be honest and get advice, but today I thought maybe I should only read and not post because some of the advice, while sound, comes off as harsh. Yes, everything I bought was on my nutritionist's list. I bought mostly proteins, 1 bag of english muffins and 3 bananas. I guess I made a huge error with those last things, 'cause I'm really hearing about it now! Anyway - I'll stick with my fish, yogurts, cheeses, shakes and whatnot. I would like to meet my weight goal like you did! :-)
Honestly, I know it sounds harsh for most of the replies to be telling you it's not wise to head down the road you're headed, but I promise you, everyone here wants you to be a success. None of us take any delight in people not being successful.
You've come here at 2 weeks out, not two months or two years, so it's not like you're SOL.
