Goal and other musings.
Greetings! I hit goal on December 23rd! I didn't expect it but 3lbs dropped off in a day and a half leading up to it and I was so happy to see that number as a Christmas present to me. :) now I plan to hit the weights with a trainer friend of mine. The loose skin isn't super excessive but i am going to try and build up a little bit of muscle, maybe tone a little.
As expected, with the onslaught of winter and it being my first with basically zero insulation, I'm an eternal meat popsicle. Always cold, can't seem to ever warm up. I think it'll be a long winter, and i plan on investing in a Costco box of hand warmers. Lol
I spent the Christmas week in Myrtle Beach, and it never got warm enough to go in a t-shirt. At one point I had my winter boots on from the emergency bin in the car. Walked the beach every day picking shells and stuff, saw some dolphins and crab, a washed up jelly fish, etc. It was beautiful there but it was cold enough they had a water main break. Reminded me of home, hahaha. I mini golfed with the kids and it was -4. Smdh.
I had a few treats here and there over Christmas, but never went overboard. My youngest daughter wanted dinner at this giant crab restaurant, which was a buffet. Essentially pointless for me (also my birthday dinner) but it sure made the kids happy to have a great selection. I found some salmon and salad, and enjoyed what I could, but $33 a plate was making my brain hemmorhage because I could have just eaten a protein bar and been just as happy (don't tell my wife, lol). I don't really look at food like something I want anymore, is just fuel. I wonder if that will change? Coming up on a year and i still don't feel hunger, crave anything, really overly "enjoy" anything food-wise, seems odd. But I digest....
It was a fun trip, didn't lose weight but didn't gain (i wasn't walking like i normally do). Overall i liked it a lot but the cold kinda ruined it for me. Oddly enough i really loved the 16.5 hourd of straight driving to get home. I haven't done that in years.
Congrats on hitting goal! That is awesome! Keep it up and also way to go with keeping to plan for the holidays.

you might end up being one of those lucky few whose hunger never comes back (I hoped and prayed I'd be one of them - but no!). But still, on most days I'm content to have things like protein bars, protein shakes, Greek yogurt, cottage cheese - I really don't miss a lot of stuff. And yes - paying $33 for a buffet when I could only manage about a cup & a half of food would make my head explode, too!
Happy Birthday and congratulations on reaching goal.
Sometimes, when I go to a buffett dinner with the family, I'll tell them about the WLS and explain that I can only eat about 1 cup of food. Often they will let me in at the child's rate.
