I know a lot of post WLS patients can't see themselves as thin, but every time I catch my reflection I'm like "OMG I'm TINY!!!"

I bought a pair of old school size six Calvin Kline jeans I found at thrift store so that I can visually see that I'm still fluffy around the hips (they will not zip - NEW CK size six jeans zip just fine). I have an old 90s pair of BR dress pants that are still tight around the waist (size 8) so I know I've not gotten back to my pre-obesity body... but seriously - I feel like I look pretty good for a fifty year old ;-)

I tell myself that I should try to lose the rest and then I can always gain some back but if my butt gets any flatter I'll be wearing butt pads!

I think you're also going to see some redistribution of fat. I've been around a 20 BMI now for 3+ months and originally my BFF described my ribs as 'holocausty' looking (I sent her a shirtless photo). But, without gaining any weight at all that look is now gone. I even have a bit more spare tire around the middle than I did before, even though my workouts are staying the same intensity. There was a hot minute where my brain said "Hm, maybe I lost too much" and then my body got its **** together and re-padded all the places that were boney and things are fine now.

Nothing can fix my flat ass because it was flat when I was 250lbs.

If you are happy where you are and you don't worry about bounce-back regain after a year or 2 - then do what you are doing and just live life.

I got down to size 4, and I personally did not like it, because I not only lost a lot of fat - but also muscles. I regained some to build muscles. I feel much stronger at size 6, and sitting on hard chairs is no longer a torture.

I felt thin at 160 because I wasn't used to being there. I feel better, more healthy, and obviously thinner at 130.

Im going to give this thread a shot since I'm one month post op as of yesterday and able to eat a bit different finally

Same here..back to the grind at work! I worked a 1/2 day yesterday b/c my daughter flew to Michigan to visit her best friend so I had to take her to the airport in the morning, but full day today.

QOTD: I'm terrible about journal keeping..I love to scrapbook at used to get chastised for not journaling on my scrapbook pages lol.

Accountability: Still eating pretty plain so this isn't an issue for me yet!

B: scrambled egg and 1/2 sausage patty

L: Chicken chunks, zucchini (yay I can eat a veggie as of yesterday again), and marinara sauce tossed together.

D: Not sure of this yet.

Still not getting in enough water/fluids as I should be but at my 2 week post op the dr said I was where I should be at that time. I simply CANNOT drink plain water. Makes my gut hurt too badly so I'm trying things to add lightly..b/c I miss plain water.

I had to start adding my calcium chews as of today as well.

I have no clue how to make those little tickers at the bottom so my totals for my first month are 25.5# down since I weighed the morning of surgery (as of my 4 weeks yesterday morning). But if we account to the day I started the 2 week shake fast prior to surgery I'm down a total of 39.8#

Welcome to the menu thread. It is a great place to find accountability for what you put in your mouth.

I had alot of problems drinking plain water for months and I'm not particularly fond of Crystal Light. I drank alot of herbal tea and ate SF popsicles for extra fluids for a long time. Give that a try.

Oh yeah those SF popsicles are my friend. I go thru them like crazy. They seem to soothe my stomach. lol! Mind games or not..they help. The true lemon powder packets help in the water I have found in the past day or 2, but I forgot them when I came into work today so i'm slowing drinking a bottle today. I had some SF gatorade also..dont really care for that. The best thing I can drink right now is Vitamin water zero RISE.

I hear you on the plain water - I add a little flavor to mine, a fraction of a serving to 8 oz of water. I drink herbal teas like it's my job! My primary water is now Green Chai tea by Stash - I drink it with vanilla protein powder for breakfast and other "snacks" to make sure I get my protein levels in. I also drink it cold with truvia as an iced tea.

Teena as your friend may I be frank with you? You are just about 2 weeks shy of your one year surgiversay. There is NO OTHER time like the honeymoon period. Some people the honeymoon period lasts a year, some 18 months some 24 months. But once its gone its gone.

If you are struggling now to get carbs out of your system because you have gone off plan I am telling you from first hand experience (only 4 years of experience) it gets harder and harder to resist carbs and once you let them in its like letting go of an appendage to get them back out of your system.

I am writing this for you and any other newbie out there that its just not worth it to go off plan in your losing phase/honeymoon phase. All the foods you are currently eating that are off plan you will be able to eat again, but save it for when you get to goal or are below goal and have a cushion for regain.

There are no foods that I can't eat at 4 years post RNY. There are foods I am allergic to that I don't eat and foods I choose not to eat because its a slippery slope for me (such as birthday cake) but I "could" eat any food I want. But to maintain my loss I still go high protein, low carb and drink liquids like its my job.

I just hate to see people who are under a year out and have not got to their goal weight and are already saying they have let carbs and off plan foods into their menus. I fully appreciate its the holidays and its nice to be able to eat like everyone else and "treat" yourself but speaking from personal experience once you let the carbs in on your menu its a ***** to get them back out of your menu.

I am only writing to you because we are friends and I see how successful you have been so far and I don't want you to get caught up in the carb monster that can be so hard to get rid of.

Best of luck, you can do this!
