A number of people who have been very successful started posting while pre-op. Teena is one of those people.

Come ahead and post now. It's a very important habit to get into and the variety of posters and where they are in their journey is helpful to newbies. They can see the pre-op,new surgeries and what food looks like 5 years down the road too.

Good morning and Happy Thursday! Teena, my son gave me a heated throw for the couch also and I love it. I never want to get up now, lol.

QOTD - I used to journal religiously but now it's pretty sporadic and always when I have high anxiety. It's very helpful to get it all out. I don't save them anymore though it's too hard for me to read them way after so I write my heart out then delete and let it go.

Accountability - yesterday I was very good, I was still full from the day before and in my carb coma... feeling better today and on track

13 mo post op - 167.5 - down 1 from yesterday

b-coffee w/hc and HB eggs

l-steak w/mushrooms and a little blue cheese

d-protein pancake

v/l - on track

I can't allow myself to be distracted from my goal anymore. Right now I can see how easily that can happen. For me, I'm feeling great and could easily settle here at "good enough" but I don't want that...NO, I'm not done. Moving forward....

Hello all!

It's been cold here in central Ohio and I'm not doing well with the exercise at all. This week I opted NOT to bike to work because I can't keep my fingers warm while biking at these temps (0-10F). Plus my brake lines seem to get all funky when it's this cold and I'm nervous after they locked up a few months ago and I hit a car.

QOTD: I journal some, but it's sporadic at best.

Accountability: I have been a bad elf this holiday season. On the upside, my tool works great!

QUESTION: I know a lot of us struggle to meet goals, but what about struggling to really believe in our original goals? I'm barely into the "normal weight" BMI, and my goal was to lose well into the low range to allow for a little bounce back room. But now I'm wearing a size six, and when I look in the mirror I LOOK thin. I know we all hear that we're "Too THIN" from friends and family so I don't take that too seriously, but I do FEEL fit and pretty thin. My doctor's goal was 150lbs which would have left me in the "over weight" range of BMI, my goal is 115lbs which is at the low end. Should I reconsider? Or is this just the fat devil trying to lure me to the dark side?

I personally think giving yourself 'wiggle room' in case of a slight regain is a great idea! I would NEVER want to go through surgery and all the work entailed to still be categorized as 'overweight.' I don't think you mentioned your height, but if 115 is your dream weight...and you are healthy there and not classified as 'underweight'...I say GO FOR IT!

I'm just under 5'4" and I'm pretty healthy. I haven't been losing (significant) weight the last couple of months, but I have been continuing to lose inches. I know I can drop the last thirty pounds if I make even a modest effort.

115 could end up being almost too thin for you because I think you probably have a fair amount of muscle based on your description of activities. Have you done a Dexa scan? I range from 115-118 at 5'3" and I don't have much fat, but I'm also not very muscular. I think that the reason there is a range of normal BMI is that it depends on the persons body composition as to where they should be in that range. IMHO.

I struggle with your goal question too. I've gone back and forth more times than I can count, but right now I am committed to getting to a normal BMI. I too have been told I'm too skinny and to stop losing. I feel thin and like the way I look. I have passed my Dr's goal and they are happy with my progress so far. I think its a personal choice of where you are comfortable. I feel great right now (20 pounds 'overweight'), but want to get to a normal BMI then decide from there.
