Not hungry and nauseous
Hello all. Im new to this forum and am hoping for some guidance. I'm 14 days post surgery (RNY) and I haven't eaten for 2 days. I'm just not hungry and I've had steady nausea for days now. Should I be concerned or just let it play out? Nothin I'm allowed to eat sounds good. Thanks I'm advance for the help.
dehydration can be deadly. You might call your doctor and see if he will bring you in for over fluids. You must get hydrated or your nausea will continue.
Oncebyou get hydrated you must be drinking all the time.
ythebitems you are allowed don't have to sound good. You just eat them anyway. It is no longer about what sounds good, it is now about eating to live.
Later you will likely enjoy the goods on your plan again but now is not the time to worry about that.
if you don't get hydrated you are going to be in serious trouble.
Call your surgeon, now.
There are some fabulous anti-nausea medications out there that your surgeon can proscribe. I'd work hard to find some sort of protein you can stomach after you get these meds! If the super sweet protein drinks won't go down (and stay down) I'd try plain protein mixed with warm broth or a soup. Plain protein powder mixes nicely with any of the cream style soups.
Your body is currently desperate for protein in order to heal, and if you don't supply it via your diet it will raid other sources you really don't want to sacrifice right now. Plus forcing your body to cannibalize its self for protein will seriously impede your recovery. Provide yourself with the nutrition you need to heal so that your body can kick back and burn up all the excess body fat instead!
Congratulations!!!!
