Not hungry and nauseous
Hello all. Im new to this forum and am hoping for some guidance. I'm 14 days post surgery (RNY) and I haven't eaten for 2 days. I'm just not hungry and I've had steady nausea for days now. Should I be concerned or just let it play out? Nothin I'm allowed to eat sounds good. Thanks I'm advance for the help.
What does that mean exactly 'haven't eaten for 2 days' ??? Nothing? No protein drinks? Are you getting your liquids in?
Even early out you need to be taking in something or you are not going to feel well. Not drinking enough will make you nauseous. Eating or drinking is not dependent on whether you feel hungry...you still need to do it.

Hopefully you have eaten something by now. Eating is not optional. Hydration is super important.
When I couldn't tolerate my usual protein drinks I found the coffee flavored ones worked. Also the Premier protein you can heat like a hot chocolate.
Make egg drop soup, chicken broth and stir in circles while you drop a scrambled egg in it, add a drop of soy sauce.
I also found letting a white peppermint tic tac melt in my mouth helped with nausea.
You can do this!

The early days post surgery are hard sometimes. Focus on protein shakes and lots of fluids. I drank alot of herbal tea and had SF popsicles in the first few weeks. If you aren't getting in your fluids, you will feel nauseated, so work on that and don't worry so much about the food. It will come.

Stick to liquids and don't let yourself get dehydrated. Dehydration is a vicious circle of hell--dehydration makes you feel nauseous and you feel like it will be worse when you drink, but obviously that makes it worse. Try liquids in different temperatures. Sometimes icy cold feels best, sometimes hot liquids feel best. Keep trying and just don't get behind on liquids. Food will come later.
