Day 1 Pureed Foods
I need some advice. Today I'm two weeks out from surgery and start my pureed stage. I've been in NY since last week, and packed in a hurry so I accidentally left my pureed instructions back home in CT. Can someone remind me of the rules for this stage?
Thank you!
Rules vary by practice. I was told purée foods should be able to easily slide off of a plastic spoon.
That being said, I kind of skipped puréed, stuck with liquids a tad longer and went to soft foods. The idea of putting typical food through a blender to make mush skeeved me out. I did things like a mashed turkey meatball with ricotta, mozzerella and sauce; chicken salad with the chicken being finely processed. Otherwise I stuck with shakes.

I ate a lot of soup. Split pea with bacon, black bean , brocolli cheddar, chicken veg. No lumps allowed. Everything gets blended.
I ate hummus too and greek yogurt.
I bought a mini chopper at the walmart and enjoyed the pureed stage. The food doesn't look appealing but as long as you puree it with liquids or low carb low cal sauces/gravies, it comes out good and tastes just fine.
I liked pureed egg salad, tuna or chicken salad, pureed beef stew, but my fave was chicken pureed with Greek yogurt and some hot sauce; tasted like hot wings. I also liked meat pureed with low carb low cal BBQ sauce.
Good luck!
