Good afternoon menu folks! I'm late checking in, but I just got a chance to get to the computer.

Yesterday we had Christmas with my Mom and family. It went relatively well although it is usually a stressful time being together. We left a little early and drove to Longwood Gardens to see the Christmas decorations and lights. They had a nice pipe organ concert, which I enjoyed, and we had dinner while we were there. We didn't do alot of walking around outside since it was raining and fairly crowded, but it was really nice. It was a great holiday event and made some great Christmas memories. Then when we got to the hotel, I watched a couple of concerts on TV, including one by the Boston Pops, which was alot of fun.

We drove back home after breakfast and I went swimming for an hour. It was relaxing to be in the water and let all of the stress of family and being on the busy road come off my shoulders. The pool is open for a few hours tomorrow and I might go again.

Accountability: I did pretty well with my family. I took a ham and we had a brunch egg casserole. Also my Mom made me some plain oatmeal instead of the sweetened oatmeal that she had made for everyone else. I did have a couple of bites of cookies, but limited my snacks pretty well.

QOTD: I go through phases where I really enjoy Christmas carols and where I am just sick to death of them. The ones that play in the stores usually wear me out, but I really enjoy listing to traditional English and French carols and the instrumental music.

Menu:

Breakfast: scrambled egg, 1 turkey sausage patty, 1/2 cup plain oatmeal, blueberries

Morning Snack: 2 string cheese sticks

Lunch: chicken breast, small salad, blueberries, cashews

Afternoon Snack: 2 oz ham

Dinner: filet mignon, broccoli slaw

Exercise: 1 hour of swimming

Hello my RnY friends! It's Christmas Eve!

I really want to thank all of you for being here, for posting and sharing your lives, your triumphs and struggles, everyday activities, thoughts and occurrences. You have helped me to carry on, and have taught, inspired, and brought me pleasure and comfort along the way. You guys are wonderful!

Today I'm cooking and still cleaning. I managed to leave my car lights on yesterday evening when I got home from the grocery store, so I need to call Triple A so I can be mobile again. I have to wrap gifts for my nephew (who is also a Winter Solstice baby, so he gets double presents), and generally get ready for the big day. Then I just want to calm and center. Tonight I will go to Midnight Mass. It's been a very stressful year on both a personal and, for me, on a national level, and I'm in need of the profound sweetness that is the deepest meaning of Christmas. It really is a balm for the spirit.

First: coffee with cashew milk. Cinnamon Buns protein drink.

B: turkey

L: BBQ pulled chicken, cheddar

D: roast beef, refried beans

Sending all of you love.

Your Christmas Carol QOTD prompted me to YouTube my favorite: Kathy Mattea singing, "Mary Did you Know." Today's menu was sampling topping choices for tomorrow's Baked Sweet Potato Bar. With windchill temps forecasted to be minus 44 degrees, I am hoping everyone stays home! Christmas Blessings to Live Right, Live Happy, Be at Peace...and...Be Safe.
