Hi all

1/2 day today, company party lunch at marlow's tavern. my weight was a little up today, probably salt related. will drink some extra water.

QOTD: healing I would say. I spent some of the year being ill followed by hernia and twisted bowel that could have killed me and felt like it almost did. then i had to get healthy yet again and heal after. looking back on my goals, I achieved almost everything except didn't get to go ziplining and golfing for the first time. next year... I also wanted to learn to sew and I didn't do that either. here's to next year.

today's menu

PP/gelatin mix

decaf/coffee

lunch out not sure what it will be

dinner will probably be either leftover chili or sloppy joe on cauli rice

exercise will be 8 fit and lots of walking today

Good morning! I'm back down to a somewhat normal weight for me after gaining from holiday eating. Glad I caught it now, but I'm still anxious about my last weigh-in on Friday. I've been replacing 2 meals with protein shakes and drinking lots of water. I eat lunch and 2 small vegetable snacks throughout the day. Yesterday was celery with PB and in the afternoon 2 raw mini sweet peppers. Hoping the weigh in goes well so I can get submitted to insurance and approved!

Qotd: I'd say adjustment! It's been quite a year going through the WLS process first with DH and now again for myself.

Breakfast: protein shake, large Americano

snack: celery again, with cream cheese and everything but the bagel seasoning

lunch: work is catering Famous Dave's, I plan on sticking to proteins

snack: 2 mini peppers

dinner: protein shake

goal is 120 oz of water

It sounds like you are on track for approval. You have worked really hard this year to get prepared.

I hope so! I think I've just been reading about too many people being denied the first time. My husband had no trouble. I also have anxiety about the "when," I'm a planner, and I want to make sure I can get the time off work, etc etc, so not knowing the surgery date yet is driving me crazy :P

reference desk this morning - hopefully there won't be much desk traffic (although there will be a lot of people in the library - final exams end tomorrow). I didn't sleep much last night and my brain isn't feeling in gear this morning - so hopefully I won't get many complicated questions!!

really glad the semester is winding down. I desperately need a break. Feeling a bit overwhelmed -- and I'm stressing out about things that I shouldn't be stressing out over.

QOTD: first half of the year was hell with my father's ailing health and death. Things perked up in August when DH finally got a position in his field after looking for 15 months. The last couple of months I've just been longing to leave my job (as in retire), which hopefully will happen next summer (maybe that's why little things have been bothering me more, too? Because I just want to get out of there??). So not sure how to sum this up in one word. "Emotional", maybe?? Or "unsettled"?

accountability was good yesterday, weight is 148.2. Not budging. Ugh.

2 years 6 months out:

B: homemade Greek yogurt, 2 t strawberry spread, 1/4 C Kashi Crunch granola

S: coffee with half & half, vanilla chai protein/Miralax shake

L: 2 T peanut butter on celery sticks, L&F yogurt

AS: raw veggies with Greek yogurt dip

D: Michigan salad (spring mix, chicken breast, chopped 1/2 apple, chopped pecans, cherry vinaigrette)

ex: yoga

Do you make the cherry vinaigrette? Your Michigan salad sounds yummy- I've never tried it.

yep - I do. I found a bunch of recipes for it online and took bits & pieces that I liked from a couple different ones. You can buy it in a bottle, but it's kind of hard to find around here (it's probably available all over in Michigan, though!). I didn't want to order it online and pay shipping charges, so I just make my own. A true Michigan salad also includes some dried cherries and either feta or blue cheese, but I usually leave those off because of the extra calories. I got hooked on these salads when we were in Michigan the summer of 2016. They were everywhere and my mom and I ordered - and split one - pretty much everywhere we went!

p.s. you can use different fruits on it. I've made it with fresh peaches in the summer. I usually do apples in fall/winter - although one of the restaurants we went to (in Michigan) had it with mandarin oranges.

I definitely lost patience for the stupid stuff at work as I was nearing retirement. It helped reinforce that this was the right time to go. They asked me if I want to consult and I am 99% sure I don't at this point (but I'll make my final decision on 1/1).
