Good morning! Loving this cold weather so I can wear all my boots and sweaters! Rob would like to eventually move to where there is snow...he grew up in So Cal, so other than a year in Michigan as a young kid he has no clue what it's really like. I grew up with snow and other than enjoying playing in it or watching it from inside, no thank you! We'll see.
QOTD - As a kid, Christmas was in the morning, after my parents had made coffee and were ready - they loved to watch all 6 of us open each present. It was all very civilized - one at a time. Then breakfast was usually cinnamon rolls and cocoa. Now, we open one gift on Xmas eve, the rest in the morning. Breakfast is usually just coffee. I may make something special for the boys, who knows. Then we get together with my whole family for Christmas dinner and have a recycled/re-gift exchange, this also includes some family/childhood 'heirlooms' - white elephant style. It's a lot of fun.
Accountability - I really think I am doing great, but the scale says otherwise...163.4 today, whaaaaa?
b-coffee w/hc, HB eggs
l-carnitas pork w/green salsa
d-chicken
v/l-on track
Have a wonderful day all!

Good morning all! I am in the still partly swollen but fully yellow from bruising stage of facial PS. I look like I got punched and contracted jaundice. I'm hoping for dramatic improvement by Friday when I have to go out in public. The stitches come out Thursday morning.
QOTD: We had to make all new traditions over the last few years after we sold our home of 20 years. We stopped being able to host Christmas, the family on the west coast stopped coming at the holiday and this year my MIL passed away. The last few years we have gathered at SIL's home (3 miles from us) on Christmas with our kids and the other east coast relatives. This year we are doing it on Christmas Eve, and most will be there but not all. DH used to enjoy cooking, but now DS does it. He is planning a sous vide tenderloin with a sauce. SIL and I are responsible for the remainder of the meal.
1 year, 9 months post-op:
B: eggbeaters, cottage cheese, and Canadian bacon
L: tuna salad, pickles and cottage cheese
D: Haddock and salad
S: Protein bar

Thank you! I feel great but I'm impatient waiting to look normal. Of course I didn't pick the best time of year to do this! My last PS was in January so it was easier to hibernate until I was presentable. But I wanted to fit this in while home for the holiday so it's my own fault!

Hello everyone, happy Tuesday!
Busy day today, the place is a mess so I am cleaning and trying to avoid the news. I get so profoundly disgusted with what is happening in Washington. But today I want to keep my equanimity so music is on rather than the news. As I type this, I can hear my violinist neighbor practicing O Come, O Come Emmanuel - such a beautiful carol! Then she stops practicing and blasts heavy metal! It's a bit schizophrenic, musically.
QOTD: We have many traditions but are in flux right now as we are scattered geographically. My son and his wife will be celebrating with her grandmother, parents, sib!ings, and nieces and nephews. My brother and his wife have left smoky, cinder-y Santa Barbara for the Gulf Coast to celebrate with my SIL's daughters and their little ones. I will celebrate with my favorite nephew (it's completely beside the point that he's also my only nephew). I'm feeling a little blue and nostalgic for many truly wonderful Christmasses Past, but activity and music will help to pull me out of that, I hope. This is an emotional week for me not only because of Christmas, but because tomorrow is the anniversary of my mother's death, and I really miss her so much, still. She made every Christmas, growing up, very magical and memorable.
First: tea with cashew milk, vanilla protein powder
B: Turkey
L: More turkey, green beans
D: Having people over tonight. I wanted to make boeuf bourguinon, mostly cause I wanted to use my beautiful pots, but one of my guests had a VSG a couple of months ago and isn't yet up to beef, and two (also WLS) people said they wanted appetizers more than a bigger meaL, so I'm just air-frying chicken wings and making a cheese dip recipe from the NY Times that sounds good, with celery, apple slices, grapes, crackers etc. and A separate shrimp platter and a separate cheese platter too. If anyone wants sweets beyond the apple slices and the grapes theyll have to go elsewhere! I will have some chicken, that's about it. I'll save my Le Creuset for Christmas dinner!
wishing everyone a lovely day today!
