What's on your Monday Menu RNYers?
Good morning!
I had a great weekend. Tobogganing with my kids and some friends, my daughter had her little birthday sleepover (and actually didn't drive me crazy all night, though I DID pay a LOT of attention to shoveling the driveway right down to concrete and cleaned every last piece of ice off of everything.....to stay outside as long as I could). A Dad in a house with a gaggle of little girls running around hopped up on birthday cake and so on, is not high on my list (though I'll lurk in the peripheral background to make sure they are safe, happy and entertained). Yesterday was a lazy day. Got up, went to church and drummed, watched a movie with both daughters curled up on the couch with me, then went to my parents' place for supper and a visit.
Food-wise I behaved for the most part, though I did have a couple bites of my daughter's dessert. I stayed away from the rest of the junk and focused on protein all weekend. I'm using this week to reset and slam through to Christmas, maybe meet goal, but not be a wreck about it if I don't. My clinic and I settled on goal weight by 1 year anyway and I'm almost there now with months to spare. I'll get there, and soon.
I need strength this week though. Already today there has been a birthday cake (triple chocolate) and another baked goods tray show up at work and it's only Monday. So far so good this season, like Halloween-time, I've not had ONE piece of anything here. I did this WLS for a reason and I don't want to waste this tool. I do joke about it though with one coworker that knows, asking him to eat mine for me and then let me smell his breath (just to creep out the secretaries a little, LOL).
Menu:
B: Protein shake. MS/AS: 1/2 cup ff greek with cut up apples my youngest didn't eat (about 4 pieces). Lunch: 1 cup tuna/cucumber/cottage cheese mixture: Supper: likely just another shake. Knocking calories down this week. ES: None. Gonna try for this menu all week.
Exercise: 11km walk commute per day, plus 3.5 km neighbourhood stroll 3x this week with my kids (Christmas light tour...we love it).
All vitamins and water.
QOTD: I've never used Groupon. I've been meaning to but haven't gotten past "intrigued". Anything that provides cheaper coffee options though, I'm in.
It sounds like you have some wonderful times with your kids!

Yeah, they're my little knuckleheads. I usually take them and run around doing activities, which gets them out of my wife's hair for a bit. She relishes the quiet, whether it's doing the chores (the ones that I don't do anyway) or binge watching Grey's Anatomy for a few episodes. She's not an outside type, and I am so it's cool. There's a great nature walk on a local conservation area we go to a lot to catch turtles etc.
Good morning,

Good morning everyone, happy Monday. I can't believe Christmas is only a week away! Looking forward to this one especially. It may be the last one I get to spend with my son for a while. My brother is having everyone over for Christmas dinner. Relationships with my siblings have been so different since my mom passed - everyone grieves in their own way. Anyway - I'm looking forward to seeing everyone, I've really missed them.
QOTD - I've never used groupon
Accountability - It was hard getting through Rob making gingerbread cookies yesterday - they smelled and looked so good! I added some gingerbread spices to a cup of coffee and was fine.
1 yr post op - 162.5 had a latte yesterday for the first time in a couple weeks and I had serious stabbing gut pain, possibly lactose intolerance? What ever it was it's a good a reason as any to quit the lattes for good. No bueno!
b- coffee w/hc, HB eggs

Hi everyone, happy Monday!
I am knee-deep in getting out the last of the pre-Christmas orders and hope to be completely done by tomorrow. Also, the house is a bloody mess, and I have people coming to dinner tomorrow evening! Finally, I think I may have broken a little bone on the top of my right foot. I don't know how it happened and it may not actually be broken, but it is extremely sore. I have an appointment with a podiatrist on Thursday, so will see what's what.
QOTD: I haven't ever used Groupon.
First: tea with cashew milk, vanilla protein drink
B: roast beef, cheese
L: turkey, green beans
D: Turkey again
I want to cut back on the cheese I've been eating. It's good, but I feel that if I cut back to .5 or none instead of the 1.5 ounces I've been having every day maybe I'd see a little burst of movement on the scale. At 6 months my rate of loss has slowed to around 10 pounds a month, and I still have 100 pounds to go. So I want to do everything I can to maximize my loss - if that means no more cheese, so be it. It is tasty and has some protein but it's not really a good trade of protein for calories. I already had 0.5 ounces with breakfast, but I'm going to avoid it for the rest of the day.
Have a wonderful day my friends!

I hope you r foot is okay! I did the same thing w/cheese when my losses started to slow and it made a difference. It gets harder to lose the further out you are.
Oh, Rob was supposed to go to SB today to look at some office space on State Street and the realtor called and cancelled due to the fire. I hope you are hanging in there. How is your brother faring?

Hi Amy! Weirdly, after really hurting for several days, my foot seems to be all better! Obviously it wasn't a broken bone. I think maybe it was some sort of weird constant cramp, but whatever it was, it seems to feel fine now!
Yes, the cheese has to be curtailed. Calorie-wise I'm okay at a daily intake of under 600, but still. It's kind of strange, it's just a habit because I'm very distanced from hunger - it really is just a habit to have had cheese so frequently. I'm glad to hear that curtailing it made a difference for you, and hope the same will be true for me!
I'm up in Solvang right now. Goleta is pretty clear today but SB is still socked into smoke. My brother is still under mandatory evacuation and hasn't been allowed back in to see what's what. He and my SIL are heading to the Gulf Coast to visit her daughters and their little ones for Christmas. Hopefully all will be well with his home and the evacuation will be lifted by the time they return. Thank you for asking Amy!
