Surgery tomorrow!!
Good Luck! You may be out of the OR by now but I'm just now reading this. I am only 2 weeks post op, and I never really had any pain or discomfort post op. The ONLY thing that bothered me was the highest incision. I just remember muttering in recovery that it hurt and I had to pee . I was in my room by 10 a.m. but wasn't really lucid until about 1-1:30. Then all I did was walk around the floor, walked to the cafeteria with my husband etc. The nurses kept making the comment that I was the only one walking around out of the patients they had that morning.
My actual most difficult balance is eating the protein amount and getting the fluids in still. I'll ask questions at my appt today on that though.
Pretty good, I went to my post op Thursday and was given the next stage of food advancing to start next week. I should have an appt, but due to the holidays the surgeon will be out of town. So yippie I get to start soft solids for Christmas. I told my husband we were having sauteed zucchini for breakfast on Christmas. LOL! So my next appt is January 4th for a follow up. They told me right now still no lifting/pulling/pushing anything over 10#, and no other exercise than walking. Glad to hear things are going well with you!
Forgot to add...The pain near your belly button is where they put the camera. That's why that area hurts a little...
Also, you may have more of a gas (discomfort) issue that a pain issue. When doing the surgery, the surgeon will spray air at each cut...To make sure it is closed properly. When they sew you back up, this air is trapped in your body. The air moves around your body for maybe 10 days to two weeks. It may travel up your chest into your shoulder...Yeah, very strange. Some tricks I have heard (when you get home) for getting the air out; Walking...simple walking, laying down with your legs up, laying down and rolling around (gently) on a clean floor (be careful to not disturb the incisions...It moves the gas around), and lastly gently rub your stomach like you are working out a Charlie horse. Heal up and enjoy the ride of your life!!
