Good morning Teena and menu folks! Happy surgiversary Teena! I'm so proud of your progress. You are doing great! Keep it up and you will meet your goals! How much more are you working toward?

I love to bake, especially at the holidays and that is a real temptation, but I am committed to keeping on plan and staying healthy. I may have a few bites, but I plan to gift most of the goodies that I make. I need to get them out of the house quickly.

QOTD: I love random acts of kindness. I haven't given any big ones lately, but I try to consistently do things like smile and open doors for people. In the city people usually keep to themselves and mind their own business, but I try to do small kindnesses in the midst of it.

Menu:

Breakfast: scrambled eggs, chicken

Snack: Cappuccino protein shake

Lunch: TJ's Herb mustard salmon, baby carrots

Snack: 2 oz turkey breast, apple

Dinner: ?pork chops, cauliflower

Exercise: short & long walk, deep water aerobics

HW: 248+, SW (RNY: 2/28/17): 244, GW (10/17): 125; LW: 115; 45# regain (19-20); CW: 135.6; new goal: 135; Plastics: Ext mastopexy, Ext abdominoplasty-5/18/2018; diagnosed w/ gastroparesis 11/20.

I think 25-30 more lbs but I'm not sure. I'm not happy with my tummy and legs so I wish I could target those areas specifically... But other than that, I am happy with how I look and more importantly how I feel. I've had such a good physical sense of well-being these last few weeks- I think it helped me to not stress about my stall.

Good Morning Teena and Menu Family!

QOTD: When Saralisa was younger and I was a struggling, working, single mom I broke my knee and had to have 3 surgeries on it. Money was tight for us. My mom had moved away and we were basically all alone. Some ladies from a church, (that wasn't even one we went to), brought us over a huge gift basket full of treats for Saralisa and for me! There was food and toys for Saralisa and all kinds of nice things! I still have no idea how they got my name.

Shortly after my surgery someone on OH posted about a mother and daughter who had lost everything in Hurricane Katrina and needed plus-sized clothes. I shipped 4 HUGE boxes of 3X and 4X clothes to those two ladies. The mother was in a wheelchair. I was so happy I was able to help them!

This Christmas Saralisa and I both signed up to give Secret Santa gifts to needy persons. We have our gifts for them bought and wrapped. We drop them off on Dec. 16th. I'm so excited. I wish I could see them open their gifts. I hope they like what we got them.

In our subdivision everyone waves at each other. I love it! When I'm out walking Blossom, every car waves at me. Makes me feel so happy!

Accountability: Yesterday: Protein - 50, Calories - 955, Carbs - 91

B: prosciutto & mozzarella sticks, light & fit Greek yogurt

L: Healthy Choice spinach & tomato linguini

D: not sure yet, but will choose wisely

S: prosciutto & mozzarella sticks, light & fit Greek yogurt, banana, 2 Atkin's peanut butter cups

E: Walking Blossom around the subdivision

Have a FANTASTIC day everyone!

~ Karen

up two pounds this morning, even though I've done great the last two days. It had to be sodium - I had cottage cheese for lunch yesterday, and an Asian-style sauce on my fish last night, which had soy sauce in it. Still - AAARRRGH!

already blew it this morning. I had my regular breakfast, but then I was cutting up these lime/shortbread cookies I made for DH's office party and ate two of them (they broke when I was taking them out of the pan - plus not all the cookies fit into the Tupperware things. Although I know that is NO excuse for me to eat them!) I'll skip my protein latte shake this morning. Really bad swap, but at least it won't be as difficult for me to work in the unexpected calories. I'll just have to be uber careful of getting in all my protein today.

QOTD: someone who lives out in a small town about 20 miles from me gave me her ticket to Joe Biden's speech because she wasn't able to go. I've never met her. She is a friend of the husband of a third cousin I've never met (I "met" my third cousin, who lives in Arizona, through DNA testing). My third cousin doesn't do internet, but her husband is on Facebook, so I've been Facebook friends with him for awhile. And the woman who lives 20 miles from me is an old law school classmate of his (they're both 60-ish now). Anyway, that ticket was like $40 plus service fees, so that was really nice of her to transfer it to me for free! I'll have to take her out to dinner in exchange - then I'll finally get to meet her in person, too!

2 years 6 months out:

B: homemade Greek yogurt with 2 T Crio Bru mixed in, 2 T Kashi Crunch granola, raspberries, 2 lime shortbread bars

S: coffee with half & half

L: 1 C cottage cheese, raw veggies with Greek yogurt dip

D: if the chicken thighs are thawed, then fajitas (just the meat & veggies). Otherwise, chili or meatballs

Good Morning! I seem to be really trying to fight a cold or something, just having to stay on cold meds and trying to get some extra rest.

11 months and going strong! You are amazing and really doing awesome-congrats.

QOTD: I am glad you liked my little notes. I wrote notes on some post-it notes and left them in random lockers in the gym locker room (things like-you matter, your smile is beautiful, make today count, you're amazing...)

Accountability: I took some zucchini German chocolate cake out of the freezer and warmed it in the microwave to eat before bed.

Time since surgery: 3 years 4 months

B: SF latte, eggbeaters, ½ an orange and 2 turkey sausage links

L: Albacore lettuce wraps and baby carrots

S: Pork rinds, Carbmaster yogurt, mixed nuts and string cheese

D: Spaghetti squash casserole and a boiled egg

ES: Homemade Greek yogurt with pumpkin and ¼ cup fiber cereal

E: 6 miles ran this morning and 40 mins of elliptical at lunch

V/W: On track

Totals: Cals:1124 Protein:119 Carbs:74 Fat:44

Have a great one!

Good morning! It was a frigid -14 degrees with the wind chill for my walk in to work. That was a long 5.5km and the ice added about 20 minutes. I'm so grateful for good winter gear. I was toasty warm.

At one point the wind stopped me in my tracks which took me off guard. It got me thinking though. Something that I've noticed lately is my reaction to things like strong gusts of wind. It sounds stupid perhaps, but these gusts will move me right across a sidewalk or stop me dead, and when I was 150+ lbs heavier, I never noticed that, ever, just kept walking. Today I was pushed about 10' on some ice and I was laughing because I couldn't stop if I wanted to. It slammed into me and decided I looked better somewhere else. I mean if it was TOWARD work that would have been great but it wasn't. LOL

Menu: Breakfast: Protein shake.

MS: Oikos 000 Salted Caramel with 1/2 granola bar (50 cal) mixed in. AS is the same, but strawberry flavour.

L: Italian wedding soup. My wife got out the crock pot and duplicated the Olive Garden stuff, and it's pretty tasty.

S: Unknown but plan forward.

ES: Might just be a late supper but if not, just a decaf by the fire.

All water and vitamins. Exercise is my walk commute.

QOTD: I've received one recently that was much appreciated but I don't really receive too many. I'm good with that though. I struggle to describe some of the little ones that I do because I don't really think about it. Shovel driveways or cut the grass for neighbours, stuff like that. One thing I am proud of (because it's something that's morphed from my family to my workplace) is, we take my daughters to Giant Tiger or Dollarama or No Frills, etc. (so the buck goes further than fancy-pants grocery stores) and buy $100 worth of food and hygiene stuff for local food banks. I give them each $50 and tell them to total stuff as they go (so it hones their math skills) and they balance out what they're buying based on "completeness" (which teaches them organizational skills) while they learn about goodwill toward other people that need help.

They ask for that excursion on their own now, which really warms my heart.

I think that is a great thing you are doing for your kids, giving them character. Way to go! Oh and the wind propulsion is funny.

I know what you mean about the wind pushing you. One night around 3:00 am I was walking to the bathroom and tripped over something. I went flying a couple of feet and was thrown down on the floor like a rag doll. When I was 300+ lbs, I would have fallen with a giant thud like an elephant. No more. I felt weak and powerless during that fall - but it was actually a great feeling!
