I had plantar fasciitis for 2 years while 300 pounds. My podiatrist said it had nothing to do with being over weight. While losing weight would help, it wouldn't make it go away/cure it. It's an injury or damage to the soft tissue that causes inflammation that is quite painful. The only thing that helped me was ice (frozen water bottle - I would rest my feet on and roll back and forth), advil and proper foot support - orthotics and supportive good shoes. I couldn't walk barefoot at all, not even to the bathroom in the middle of the night! It was not fun, but it will go away if you consistently take care of your feet. Mine took 2 years because I wasn't consistent until I was entirely sick and tired of being in pain.

I do the frozen water bottle at night, and I find that a hot soak also relaxes things and eases some of the tension.

My hubby says I'm a cheap date now whenwe go out--I either eat a bit of his or have my own and have leftovers for later.

Lol more often than not he wants to order his own, because we have vastly different tastes. But if we're going to a steak place, we'll share, which is what we did this evening :)

I had this too one year, many years ago. I just kind of limped through it. It would go away after a few weeks, then flare up again. I 'd be ok once I was walking, it was starting to walk after sitting for a while or lying down that was really painful. Thankfully, it did go away altogether after several months. I hope yours does, too.

Danskin clogs helped get rid of mine. Podiatrist recommended them. I tried everything that he offered and that was the last resort so I gave it a try. They're like 120.00 in 2009. So they probably more now.

Birkenstock sandals are the only kind of sandals I can wear without my feet or heels hurting, and I have to wear only flats, no heels in any kind of shoes.

Plantar fasciitis is bad, I had it once and it seemed like it took forever to get over. Now I'm dealing with Achilles tendonitis. Doc prescribed NSAID, not sure if that helps, and a splint to wear at night. Another one of those things that just takes time. Ugh!
