Does anyone take Integra F for low iron and Ergocalciterol?

Howdy,
My bariatric surgeon sent me these prescriptions when I alerted her about my low iron and vit D.
Does anyone take this? I dont really want to get constipated and/or other stomach distress by upping my iron.

I don't know anything about those. But only certain kinds of iron lead to stomach distress and constipation. Ferrous sulphate, the most commonly available iron, is most responsible for those side effects. Anything that begins with ferrous- like ferrous gluconate, fumarate, etc, will also.
Carbonyl iron doesn't constipate or cause upset, and is fairly inexpensive. Heme iron is also great, is absorbed best, but is pricey. Iron patches can work really well.
Some WLSers just don't absorb oral iron very well, if at all. Some people don't absorb patch medications well.

Hi and thanks!
I am seeing my PCP today and I am going to insist he put an order in to the hematologist so I can get an infusion. My bariatric surgeon gave me long term boosters but it isn't going to make me feel better right now. I already feel like crap and I knew my iron was low.

Even though my Ferritin has been as low as 6, my surgeon is totally anti-infusion. She thinks it creates more problems then it solves, and she insists that since I am 4'11" anything over an 8 is fine. BS. Just sharing my story, in case you are surprised of your doc doesn't support the infusion.

This is what I pulled off of product description:
OGY: Integra FTM is unique in that it utilizes two (2) different forms of iron, i.e., Ferrous Fumarate and Polysaccharide Iron Complex (as cell-contracted akagane?ite), making available a total of 125 mg of elemental iron per capsule as follows:
I suspect that it will give me problems but don't really know!!

I wouldn't take it, because of the ferrous fumarate. I would look for heme iron or carbonyl.
It isn't too hard to bring your hematocrit or hemoglobin up. But the odds of any oral iron, in any strength, bringing up a ferritin as low as yours, after WLS, is about the same a****ting the Powerball.
