I am a post Rny Thanksgiving veteran.
I was thinking to myself how this year is such a non issue. No worries on any level, not weight, not guests, not cooking or eating. I'm making what fits for my family of four. Not baking, using frozen desserts. I'm in maintenance so will eat protein forward but will dabble in some of the other things.
Then on to the more important part of the day... shopping!

Something I learned from my days (and years) at OA. Thanksgiving means my protein is turkey.
I go to my son's house and one thing I have learned from years of eating at other people's houses is to make sure I bring something I can eat, just in case there isn't anything there. Today I brought a sugar free pecan pie and mashed cauliflower. That way I didn't need to worry about how much sugar was in something. They even added sugar to the carrots. Since I dump I don't want to take chances so if I'm not sure I don't partake.
Today, like most days, I eat a few bites and then start feeling queasy. Even when I take very small amounts of food I can't eat much but I don't say anything because no one really cares how much I can or cannot eat. I just move it around the plate and take micro bites. No one ever comments on the amount I eat because I do not make an issue about it.
My boyfriend usually eats from my plate instead of getting seconds. That way it looks like I am eating more than I do and it makes him look like he's eating less than he does.
Protein first works good on this day as it does on every other day. By the time I get eat my portion of protein I have very little room or desire for anything else.

Sorry I missed this post Deb, it is great adice. Yes no one cares what you are eating. Really. There is pie.
My SIL had small plates out too, so I grabbed one of those. Makes it look like a full plate.
Thanksgiving is one of the easy holidays- there's always turkey.
I brought a sugar free dessert, everyone like it. Win-win
