What's on your Wednesday Menu RNYers? (Day 3 Gratitude Post)

The first year of holidays is very hard after you lose your parent.

My mom has been gone 5 years but I still cried tonight just thinking about her and her chocolate pie.

I hope it's easy going for you.

no meetings today, so I decided to take the day off so I can cook leisurely and not be pressured by having to do it all tonight. Right now I'm making the sweet potatoes for my sweet potato casserole in my Instant Pot - first time for this - I'm curious to see how they turn out! I'm going to an "aroma nidra" class at my yoga studio over the noon hour (never been to one, but it sounds wonderful), then meeting my sister for a late lunch.

QOTD: I agree that it's so great to fit into regular sizes. On the flip side, though, I spend a lot more money on clothes (mostly from second-hand stores, but still...). It's so weird to have almost everything fit and to be able to choose what looks best on me, rather than be stuck with the only one or two items that fit.

2 years 5 months out:

B: homemade Greek yogurt, 1 T Crio Bru grounds, 10 raspberries

S: coffee with half & half, protein/Miralax vanilla latte shake

L: white chicken chili

D: Michigan salad

probably a pumpkin yogurt with high fiber cereal later - or just high fiber cereal with unsweetened cashew milk

Enjoy your leisurely preparations! I had to look up Aroma Nidra - at first I assumed it was an aromatherapy class. Sounds interesting! Have a lovely Thanksgiving!

I hope you all have wonderful Thanksgivings tomorrow and amazing time with family and friends. Lily and I have our 3.9 miles done already--it was a whopping 20 at the time. We'll do another mile after supper. QOTD I'm thankful for the self confidence I have now. I've done so many things post surgery I would not have had the confidence to do before: obedience class with Lily, lay speaker class for church, concealed carry class--I wouldn't have even attempted them before. Accountability was good with no extra bites taken. Here's the food for maintenance today B 1/2 c steel cut oats with protein and peanut butter added L 31/2 oz deli ham with cheese and baby carrots D 31/2 oz mushroom swiss brat with 1/2 c spinach S 5 oz greek yogurt with 1 T granola. Post op 5 years 2.75 months and weight at 118.2 today. Time for some pumpkin spice coffee! Have a great day everyone and make some smart choices too!

Happy Turkey Eve Menu Peeps!

Julia, your story is so wonderful!! How great they are all coming to your house and that you get to spend time with them Don't stress too much, because in the end it's more about the time spent than where everyone will sit! It'll all work out!

QOTD: I'm thankful for my smaller appetite! Now I can order/cook something 'expensive' and have it for several meals, making it very reasonable in the end. Last night no one was home, so when I stopped to pick up our turkey from Sprouts, I picked up .5 lbs of some really nice shrimp just for me. I pan seared them in some Cajun spices and I have plenty for lunch today as well (and no one is the wiser at home, I just packed them up in one of my little containers just for me! LOL). While I'm not good at keeping up with our grocery expenditures, I am fairly certain our bills have gone down. I think I was eating A LOT more of 'those' foods we used to buy than anyone else! My kids are also more aware of their eating, and I even helped my daughter meal prep for when we were out of town... grilled chicken, broccoli and zucchini. I was proud of her, and I know she's learned this from watching me. (My son isn't there yet, and I'm not sure he could live without his ramen and pot stickers just yet Ha!)

Accountability: Did great yesterday, with the exception of a couple of bites of yet another yeast roll recipe I tried last night... but not a whole roll. At least this one turned out great, so we've got the recipe for tonight, and after tomorrow we'll be done with that!

Weight this morning 140.6 (Still up, boo)/ maintenance diet/ 18 months out

B: 1 egg 3 pieces of bacon

S: Cheese stick if I need it (I haven't had any so far this week)

L: Leftover shrimp

D: grilled chicken leg quarters and not sure of the sides, but I won't have much of them anyway

Everyone have a GREAT THANKSGIVING!!!! Enjoy your time with Family and friends!

Boy, isn't it the truth about the smaller grocery bill? Mine has gone down by at least $200 a month - probably more - and that's not counting eating out! Wishing you and yours a beautiful, very happy Thanksgiving!

No one else likes shrimp so I buy for myself all the time. I'm a little burned out right now.

My son won't eat ramen. He's very expensive to feed right now.
