Hi all... Happy Thanksgiving Eve. I am officially off from wor****il Monday but we all know that won't be the case. My daughter and her friend arrived last night and I am so happy!!! It is nice to have her home and 10 minutes after we got home friends stopped by at 10pm last night. But you know what I don't care she is here and I love when the house is a bustle of activity for a few days anyway. Today we are running errands and Emily has a couple of doctors appointments and then the fun can begin.

QOTD: I have missed the first two days of gratitude working 13 hours days but I am thankful for all things positive with WLS. Better health, mobility, happier Penny, shopping, and I could go on for days but I will save more for another day.

Food for the day:

B: coffee and sausage patty and hard boiled egg white

L: salad as we are going out

D: sausage and meatball w/ cheese and marina sauce

Have a great day my friends....

Hey, we just had a brand new Aldi open up about a mile from the house! I haven't explored yet because I think Thanksgiving is the wrong time to check it out, but maybe next week... What do you recommend I look for?

So you didn't ask me, but I'll chime in anyway because I LOVE Aldi and have for years!

They are going to mostly have your basics. One brand of everything (They are sister companies of Trader Joes, in case you didn't know that, but more on the staple side than TJs), so they are kind of small.

Their canned good are all great, as are their dairy items (I don't eat yogurt, so I can't speak on that). Their half and half is CHEAP and good. You'll find a cooler case that will vary weekly with different salamis and cheeses, and I always love everything I pick from there. ALL of their produce is organic, but you have to pick carefully because it'**** or miss on the quality. But they will have weekly specials on that aisle with some fantastic deals! I don't get their meats, as we tend to buy in bulk, so can't speak of them, but I've not noticed their prices being all that great. When my kids were young I used to stock up on the chips and crackers there because of the prices. They also have (on the same aisle as the crackers) bags of nuts that are a pretty good price. I don't like their beef jerky, but if you like Jack Link's jerky, you'll like theirs.

Warning, they make you walk in through ALL of the chips, crackers and cereals when you first enter... just put your head down and turn the corner quick!

They also have a center aisle with all kinds of home good things, and at this time of the year, toys and holiday things. That's always fun to see what's there, and the prices are always really good.

Bring a quarter. They make you 'rent' your cart, but you get your quarter back when you return your cart.

Seasoning packets are SUPER cheap. found a butternut squash soup mix packet last night for 49 cents. also a sweet potato soup mix, gravy is about 50 cents or less. eggs are super cheap, egg white cartons are also. good coffee even cold brew. cheese is a great price also. they make a frozen mussels in tomato that is excellent for 2.49. veggies are super cheap. they also have things like pumpkin bread mixes which I think are exactly the same as TJ's.

Good morning :)

Halfway point to the week. I think we might be going up north on the weekend so I'm looking forward to that. I'm sure this sounds silly, but it's a playdate for our puppies. We are still in contact with puppy #2's littermate's family. I'm hoping today isn't too boring so that day will move by.

Gratitude: I'm so happy to just feel good and be able to move and do things without feeling like I'm going to expire. Also, that since I started a new job no one knows me from pre-op, so they just assume this is my normal. I do still get some weird looks about my food choices, but one girl is vegan and we chat a lot about nutrition.

Post-op two years, eight months.

Breakfast - protein bar

Snack - egg

Lunch - turkey pepperettes

Snack - cheese whisps and pepperoni

Dinner - chicken salad

Snack - protein shake if needed

All water and vits.

Good Morning JB and Menu Family! Thank you for starting us off, Julia! I'm so happy that you are having a houseful of your favorite people for Thanksgiving, Julia! I hope you have a wonderful time!

Gratitude Day 3: I am so thankful for my mobility. I take my dog for a walk nearly every day now and it's so easy to walk around the subdivision now. Before I could barely make it around the subdivision once without panting and my back & knees aching. Now it's a breeze and actually pleasurable to go for a walk!

Accountability: Not so good, I ate a slice of apple pie last night. Shame on me! Protein - 73, Calories - 1,235, Carbs - 138. Tomorrow is another Thanksgiving dinner and I will NOT stuff myself like I did last Sunday.

B: prosciutto & mozzarella sticks, light & fit Greek yogurt

L: cheesy ranch chicken

D: beef pot roast

S: prosciutto & mozzarella sticks, light & fit Greek yogurt, banana, 2 Atkin's peanut butter cups

E: Walking Blossom around the subdivision

Have a wonderful day everyone!

Good morning! Last night I went out for supper, and behaved choice-wise, but had one too many bites of a very delicious piece of sirloin. Didn't feel that great after, so lesson learned. I haven't had too many incidents like that so far, but it was a good reminder. I did enjoy sitting there with my young family watching them enjoy their meals and hearing about their school day. Aside from the discomfort from my own stupidity, it was a nice time.

Menu: Breakfast: I ate most of an apple on the walk to work, and had a laughing cow wedge once I got here. I've got an extra-watered-down protein shake I'm working on at my desk.

Lunch is the same.

MS/AS: 1/3 cup ff greek yogurt with some berries mixed in.

S: No idea but I'm trying for the last few lbs to meet goal by no later than Christmas. So not much for supper for me.

ES: Decaf in the car while I wait for the kids' piano lessons to be done. No food after supper at least until maintenance time.

QOTD: Thankful thing number 3: I'd have to say being able to buy clothing at whatever store I feel like instead of the Big n Tall shops, which are ridiculously overpriced. Oh it's nice quality, but waaaaay too expensive for my wallet. Even Mark's Workwear does it, jacking up the price on the bigger stuff. That's always been a bone of contention for me. The rationale behind it doesn't fly with me. The fact that there's more fabric in a larger piece of clothing doesn't justify the extra money. There's extra fabric between a small and a 2xl, but those are the same price.

At any rate, I am really thankful that I can walk in to a store and I have a greater chance of finding something I might like. I still hate shopping, and my brain still can't pick the right size off the rack which is hilarious, but I'm starting to enjoy it. Folding clothes I can't believe what I'm folding. My wife has noticed my style has evolved a bit, which is a good thing.

Here's a couple of recent thrift store finds.
