Happy Thanksgiving-Eve Everyone!
Ok, I am about to get super sappy to explain why I am so excited about Thanksgiving. Bear with me... I lost my closest friend to cancer 3 years ago, and since then, her husband and 5 kids (who range from 28 - 16 in age) scattered around the country. It has been impossibly hard not to have them in my day to day life anymore, and sometimes I don't even realize how much it weighs on me. Anyway, the gang is all here! I am beyond thrilled that they all traveled back to MA from DC, Illinois, Vermont & CT to celebrate Thanksgiving at our house this year. I already got to have dinner with 4 of them last night and my heart is full.
Ok, but enough of the sappy... today is all about getting **** done! I am technically "working from home", but other than a few calls, I am really just trying to finish getting the house ready. They'll be 16 people here tomorrow and we are still figuring out where we are putting everyone. I also have to go to the grocery store for a few last minute things. YIKES! Wish me luck :)
Accountability: Uh, it was a weird day... I didn't eat anything bad for me, but I sure ate a lot! I found myself grazing on 2 extra cheese sticks, oven baked cheese bites, and a protein bar. I ended the day way over calories. Pretty sure I was eating my feelings.
Day 3 Gratitude Post: I am so grateful for my mobility. Not just that I am active, but that I don't have to think about it. I spent so many years worrying about how I would gracefully avoid climbing stairs or walking up hills. It took up so much of my brain power.
Good morning JB and menu folks! I am up early getting ready to hit the road for NY. I'm not looking forward to the driving since the road will definitely be busy. Thankfully we are only going part way and will head out early on Thursday morning to do the final leg of the trip. We will be doing alot of eating out over the holiday, but I will do my best to keep it protein forward and low carb.
JB, enjoy your guests and try to relax and enjoy the friendships.
Accountability: I ate pretty much on plan yesterday and my weight is down a little bit. A nice way to start a holiday vacation.
QOTD: I am grateful for my family. We spent Sunday with my family and everyone generally played nice. That doesn't always happen. Now I am going to spend several days with my MIL and I love her very much. It will be good to spend some time with her. I am particularly thankful for my wife, who is a great support and cheerleader.

Have a wonderful time, Janet! Drive carefully. Up until you mentioned driving to upstate NY I had the notion that you were in the Seattle area - obviously wrong. I love the countryside of upstate NY - I was born up there, and my family still has property up there. But I grew up in NJ, mostly. Where do you guys live?

Very nice, Erin! I love NY in general, have lived in both NYC and in deep country. A very pretty landscape of old farms and meadows, beautiful forests, glacial lakes, sparkling trout streams, and smooth curving hills. I love where I am now, but the East coast will always feel like home.
