1 month follow up post-op
I didn't eat a single fruit or veggie until I was over 5 months out. My RD was on board for me to re-add veggies and fruit "as soon as I could eat a 3oz portion of dense protein in one sitting". That takes a long time! I'm now 10 months out and still eat a tiny amount of veggies (1/4 cup or 1oz weighed) and I eat fruit maybe twice per month (strawberries mostly, 3 medium at a sitting). There was simply no room in the equation to put it that early out.
I was to my surgeon's goal in 4 months, my personal goal at 6 1/2 months and I'm now at a 20 BMI and learning to maintain. Protein works!

I'm curious, what does your blood work have to do with stopping protein shakes?

My doctor said that my protein levels looked good and as long as I am able to get enough protein through food intake I could stop or at least back off of protein shakes. I have a difficult time drinking them.
I hope you realize that your lab work at only one month post-op is little more than a reflection of how your labs were before surgery. Your body stores many of the vitamins and you won't see any change in them until 3 months out.
I also am curious about what your labs have to do with dropping the protein shakes...

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.
