Losing 140 pounds in a year is fantastic! Just so well done, Amy. I look up to you and admire your accomplishment!
My neighbor had a VSG 18 months or so before I had my RnY. One compelling reason why I opted to have an RnY instead of the sleeve was that I saw her only lose perhaps 60 pounds, and then maintain despite still being significantly obese, even MO. The fact that she stopped losing after 60 pounds has much more to do with her eating decisions and her comfort level with her appearance than it does with the type of surgery she had, I know. Still, seeing how she did with her VSG was a pivotal reason I went ahead with an RnY.

Thank you Cara! I hear you! I had RNY 6 months after my sister (same stats as me) had VSG. She lost 70 pounds in the first 6 months and has maintained there. She basically went back to her old eating habits - drinking alcohol, eating sweets, snaking and although it's less than she ate pre op, it is what it is...she fully understands this. She says she is happy, but I don't believe her. When I passed her on my 'weigh' down, she hardly talked to me...she is better now.

The comfort level with your appearance is a big thing I think and it's playing games with my head! Right now I like what I see in the mirror, I like the size I'm wearing but I'm not ok with the number on the scale. And I'm also scared of regain so I have to keep reminding myself that I'm not going to settle.
RNY Jan 12, 2017 Lost 137 lbs but regained 60.
77 lbs lost and counting!
Losing the regain! I got this!

You look great Teena! Still, I know just what you mean. I think that after everything we have gone through to alter and improve our lives, that we deserve to be at the actual weight we have hoped to be, rather than stopping short.
I know I look very slender in clothes at 160#, but I really would prefer to be 20 pounds lighter. I know that I actually look and feel better at that weight. and that's still 16 pounds over what I weighed at my lowest - but I'm in my 60s, not my 20s. One thing I'm uncertain about is how my face will look at that point...I know I would like to have a face lift anyway, though, so I probably just push for 137, maybe even a bit less so I will have a bit of wiggle room. My face may look worse for a while, but hopefully even before I have saved enough for surgery, it will smooth out a bit and be less drawn and gaunt.

Hi everyone! Happy Tuesday!
QOTD: At 90+ pounds down, I still have 120+ to go to reach my goal. I started at 353 and now weigh 262. So though my appearance is improved, I have a long way yet to go. I always felt I could carry my weight up until I weighed 175, but over that I couldn't carry it well and looked more and more matronly - not my goal. My first goal is 150, but my real goal is 137-142. Anyway I have in the past, when thinner, definitely seen a big difference in how people, particularly men, react to me. But I'm not there yet now. Still it has been rare for me to be actively disrespected or mistreated due to my weight - but it has happened. Some people are just congenitally rude and devoid of empathy.
First: Coffee with cashew milk, Cappucino protein drink
B: 2 oz. Turkey, mustard
L: 2 oz. Tilapia, lemon
D: 1.7 oz. Ham, 0.4 oz. cheddar melted on top
Lots of tea, all vitamins
Have a sweet day, RnYers!
