Ending the losing phase
I am 9months from surgery and down to 143 and feel very comfortable with this weight. I know I have to lose 5 to 10 more lbs for the regain that will come.
i have always known what to expect in each phase of this journey (liquid, soft , etc) but I am clueless on the ending of losing weight.
thur the losing phase I basically have 3 meals a day and 1 snack. I am having a hard time wrapping my mind around adding more food. Also I for the most part still do not feel hungry and could still skip a meal but I have always eaten by the clock otherwise I would miss meals I do get in at least 134 to 143 oz of water a day For the last month depending on type of protein between 750 and 900 calories a day
i just don't know where to fit in more food, any advice would be greatly appreciated

Add high calorie, low volume foods like nut butters. It will increase calories dramatically, it's a healthy fat and easy to eat. Add 100 calories a day and see what your weight does. If you are still losing, you can up those calories to 200, et****il you balance out. Then you will know exactly how many calories you need to maintain.
Just a note, you might want to lose a little more than 5 to 10 pounds as a cushion for regain.
Average regain is 20 pounds, but losing an additional 30 is fine. My regain started at 30 months out and was a pound a wee****il I took control and started weighing daily and counting calories again. I never added extra food to stop losing. I just stopped losing with no effort and stayed the same weight for a year, then one day started gaining again.
It is the body's way of recovering from the surgery. It will know when to stop losing and nobody has disappeared yet.
I looked pretty skinny for about a year and actually enjoyed the experience of being to small for size 4 and having to find stores that carried smaller sizes.
Real life begins where your comfort zone ends
I'm only 13.5 months out and people constantly tell me I need to stop losing but I haven't listened. I will continue to follow your words of wisdom. I was successful by listening to vets here and I don't want to screw it up now. I have been adding some food but I think it's primarily because of head hunger not actual hunger so I needed to be reminded of this. Thank you for this response.

If I followed this I could easily end up truly underweight. I acknowledge that one day it won't be so easy and that regain can/will happen. But, I already have a really low body fat percentage for a woman and I'm only 9 1/2 months out. I'm a solid 30lbs below normal BMI. Hovering around a 20 BMI.
I opted to quit losing. Different strokes for different folks, I suppose.

It is scary. That first year/rush of weight loss is quite something to go through. Most Rn y vets would probably advocate losing down further because we know what it's like to regain and to maintain.
You won't be eating 700 calories. I miss the satiety when that would be plenty..
You'e maintance diet hopefully will be similar to the losing phase. Protein forward.
Keep asking good questions. I think it's difficult for many. The roller coaster slows down.
The long term reward is being able to maintain a steady weight. I've had that and it's magic.

I always was confused when people said allow yourself room for regain. I always thought "Is that just part of the surgeries?" But it must just be when people stop following their health path that weight creeps back on
Those that have RNY will have their malabosorption stop at some point. I think around 18 months. That will make losing harder and gaining easier. The rest of it is simply being more lax with your diet. Which does happen when you know you're at goal, but it's just a will power thing.
