What's on your Tuesday menu RNYers?
Good Morning Teena and Menu Family!
Teena, you look amazing! WOW!
QOTD: I have some Mission protein bars and some Clif builders protein bars in the cupboard, but I rarely eat protein bars. I do allow myself 2 Atkin's peanut butter cups each evening for a snack, though.
Accountability: Yesterday: Protein was too low, Carbs were too high. Protein - 50, Calories - 1,155, Carbs - 124.
B: prosciutto & mozzarella sticks, light & fit Greek yogurt
L: Church Ladies luncheon at the Senior Center but they always serve very healthy meals there so I will eat protein forward.
D: Beef pot roast
S: prosciutto & mozzarella sticks, light & fit Greek yogurt, banana, Atkin's peanut butter cups
E: Supposed to snow and be bitter cold today so I might walk at the mall instead of outside today.
Have a GREAT day everyone!
~ Karen
Teena, you look fantastic!!
Good morning :)
I'm a popsicle today. Couldn't get the heat right in my car - normally I like to do feet and windshield to warm me up. Then I stopped for gas which undid that lol. Some days I miss my insulation. Today I have a big meeting this afternoon but I'm just there to take notes for a colleague.
I was thinking on my walk in this morning that I'm not the best for internal motivation which I find is affecting my drive to get back on the weight loss horse. DH has decided he wants to eat healthier this year so I'm hoping that will help with our meals and cupboards. I know I can do this!!
Oh, that reminds me... A lot of people have said that around year 3 is the hardest. Would you say it's generally hard after that or it gets maybe slightly easier after that bump?
QOTD: DH hates when I eat protein bars. He grew up on an organic farm and hates frankenfood. I get an upset stomach from the Quest bars now. I like the chocolate deluxe pure protein in terms of taste and pouch happiness. I've also had the muscle Pharm bars, which are slightly higher in sugar (5g), but don't give me stomach problems.
Post-op two years, eight months.
Breakfast - egg
Snack - yogurt, turkey sausage
Lunch - kielbasa
Snack - pepperoni and cheese
Dinner - pork roast
Snack - protein shake if needed
All water and vits.
Honestly, things seemed to get harder for me around 2 1/2 years out I think. I can't really explain it well but although my routine was set I just wanted to feel "normal" sometimes, like not wanting to have to plan everything out everyday. Does that make sense? It has gotten better and I try and not overthink it.
Teena, you look phenomenal and I LOVE that outfit on you!
I went to a dinner last night which was ok, but I wish I could have left earlier (they were doing awards and it felt like it would be rude to leave during them). Home at 10.
QOTD: I keep 3 boxes of quest bars available but only use them periodically (I am a bit of a pack rat). I have tried many, but my favorite are chocolate chip cookie dough, oatmeal chocolate chip, and cinnamon roll breakfast bar.
1 year, 7 months post-op (maintenance). 4 work days to retirement (11/13) - 2 short days, 2 long ones.
B: eggbeaters, cottage cheese and Canadian bacon
L: Ham and cheese
D: ahi tuna

Good morning! My menu is a little bit off today, but not terribly. I'll be slamming back the water today because I didn't quite get in the amount yesterday that I was shooting for. No biggie, I'm at my desk today all day (I hope).
B: I ate about half of a tennis-ball sized Jonagold apple on my 70 minute walk this morning, which is pretty unusual for me to grab any fruit aside from a few berries. Without a TMI thing here, I think I have to boost the fibre in my diet. Hoooly. At work, I ate 2 of the 3 pinky finger-sized meat sticks I packed, and made my protein shake, which I'll sip away on as I've added extra water.
MS and AS: 1/2 cup ff greek yogurt with 2 oz mixed fresh berries
L: Leftover cannelloni with spinach and ricotta. I'm not crazy about it because, even though it's a small piece and the "noodle" is a protein-enriched one, it still makes me feel kinda off. Nutritionally speaking it's not terrible, but it doesn't always agree with my system.
I've got a 1/2 cup tuna, the 3rd meat stick from breakfast and some cucumber that I might just stick with instead. There's a buddy here at work that will destroy that cannelloni for me. LOL
S: Steamed veggies and a piece of chicken (I think). I never quite know, but that's pretty typical.
ES: Not eating after supper anymore, but I'll have a decaf, maybe 2 if I'm up late enough.
All vites and water
QOTD: I don't usually go for protein bars, but if I know I'm traveling or going to be out for the day (or to a hockey game or whatever) I'll pack one as a "just in case". I only eat the Pure Protein ones when I do, because of the stats. They're not bad, but I wouldn't want to use them daily. I think I'd lose what's left of my mind.
Good Morning! I love this pic of you. I hope all goes well with your trip. Later this morning I am headed to the cardiologist office to get the 24-hour monitor. I really am not too worried about it, other than the lack of being able to shower tonight. I won't get any results until next Friday, but again not too worried.
QOTD: My go-to is usually Fitjoy. Sometimes for a "dessert" option I like the protein cake bites.
Accountability: On point yesterday.
Time since surgery: 3 years 2 months
B: SF latte, eggbeaters with roasted red pepper, ½ an orange and 2 turkey sausage links
L: Spaghetti squash casserole and baby carrots
S: Pork rinds, Carbmaster yogurt, string cheese, mixed nuts and a SF popsicle when I get home
D: Albacore tuna melt (using ½ low carb pita) and edamame
ES: Homemade Greek yogurt with canned pumpkin and ¼ cup fiber cereal
E: 6 mile run this morning and 40 mins of elliptical at lunch
V/W: On track
Totals: Cals:1169 Protein:121 Carbs:83 Fat:48
Have a great one!
My hubby got several packages of the cake bites for his birthday, then found out he's pretty allergic to milks all of a sudden, so they sit in there for me to eat. I don't really like the texture of them, so I'm lucky in that when I do open a package, 1 of those suckers works for me.
Hoping it all goes well with the heart monitor!
