Blood work/vitamins
I have my 3yr app. and blood work this week. Is it true that you should stop taking the vit a few days before blood work? Thank You
I was never told to stop taking my vitamins before blood work. Hopefully others will chime in soon, especially if they've been told differently.

I just had my blood work done on Saturday. I was told it was a fasting blood check. so nothing for 10 hours. I got up in the morning and had my blood drawn then came home and took my vitamin.
Why would you STOP your vitamins before the test? doesn't make any sense. I would take everything as normal... and before your next batch of meds in the morning, get your blood work done, then take your meds.

I have seen different postings about stopping before hand, not sure where that information comes from. I certainly wouldn't take them that morning right before I go.

Ha. I don't know if he has all the answers... but I know he has posted about stopping prior. My own Doc has told me to not take things the day of... so that is my only personal reference.

I only take B12 every other week, so I don't take that one right before blood work as I'm afraid it will show that I have much more B12 in my system than might be the case. If it's been 3 or 4 days, then fine - but not right before. I take everything else as usual, since I take all the other vitamins every day *anyway*, so the level reflected in my blood should be correct. Or that's my thinking, anyway....
The only issue is, my B12 levels use to run high. So, I've cut back to taking it every other day (I take the sublingual). B 12 levels have been normal.
P.S. My primary doctor does blood work every 12 weeks. Which, I know is overkill but, I'm okay with it. She as well as myself, wants to keep on top of things.
P.S.S. Please excuse any misspelled words. My coffee hasn't fully kicked in yet
