I'm so sorry that your dad is going through this, and I know that it hurts you. When my mom's dementia was flaring, I was always acutely aware that it was a physical ailment which was robbing her of her orientation and memories, rather than some mysterious spiritual or mental malaise. I always felt that deep within her all of those memories remained, and that she was still, deep within herself, every bit the wise and profoundly kind person she had always been. What had changed, due to a physical disease, was her access to those memories. I knew that there would come a time when she would be entirely herself once again. Anyway, please be gentle and good to yourself during this time. It is clear how much you love your dad. I will be thinking and praying for you both.

You're so right, it is a physical ailment. It is robbing him of any quality of life and my whole family of this wonderful man. I know he is still 'in there' and will be free some day. Thank you.

So sorry about your dad, AmyLiz. It's so hard when our parents get older and fail in health.

Hi all, happy Thursday!

Yesterday I had a hard time with the food I ate - the salmon tasted good but sat like a painful lead balloon for hours in my stomach, and the chicken thigh wasn't much better (I switched dinner from more salmon to chicken). I have been trying to not eat as much deli meat, which I tolerate very well, due to it's nitrates, high sodium, etc. But ouch, my pouch! I will take it easy today and though I will have a bit more chicken (cooked very soft - basically stewed), I will eat very very slowly, paying attention to how it is sitting once swallowed.

First: Cinnamon Buns protein drink

B: Greek yogurt w/ a little protein powder to taste

L: same as breakfast

D: chicken thigh

Have a beautiful day!

Lol late post, and likely nobody will see it. My schedule is a bit screwy lately since my company is super busy and we're hiring like mad, and I'm in charge of training our new hires...plus my own case loads. I've been working 10-11 hour days BUT my company is paying unlimited overtime right now at double wages. Hooray Christmas money!!

qotd: weekend plans include a trip to Lincoln, NE (not far at all from omaha) just for a change of scene to celebrate our first anniversary, which is Saturday. I think we're going to check out the Lincoln thrifting scene :P

breakfast was a scrambled egg with cheese and a slice of buttered toast

snack was 2 oz of deli turkey

lunch was 1 1/2 C steamed broccoli and 3 oz shrimp scampi

afternoon snack was 1/2 a Greek L&F (didn't really have an appetite so I didn't finish)

dinner is up in the air still. I'll figure it out after taking kitties to the vet for their yearly checkups
