What's on your Wednesday menu RNYers?
Hi Teena D and OHer's, it's a little chilly here too...but the weather predictions for our area are saying..no rain for a few days... in this area that's like not possible!
QOTD I'm currently driving a 2014 red VW Beetle.. it kind of reminds me of the old rounded Volvos... I'm not sure that I 'trust' it yet so I don't know if I'm going to like it...hmmmm which probably means I don't!!!! But it's just supposed to be my runaround car...hmmmm
Coffee, cream, fiber, vitamins, then pp with coffee warm-up...then water all day
B hb egg
L chicken parmesan
D half hamburger patty topped w sauteed spinach, garlic, onion, boursin cheese mix.
So the knee and I made it to the surprise cardiologist appt. Yesterday!... he did a kind of pre-op for me and said he would send my surgeon a letter ok-ing me for the knee manipulation surgery... Yaaaaay.
Good morning!
Well, I'm off to my 1 year appointment. I'm surprised I'm so nervous. It's not like I'm going to gain everything back on the drive there. I hope I'm under 170. I was 167.6 this morning and have only had 1 cup of coffee.
I'm afraid they are going to say that I'm done losing. They told me last time that "my body would tell me when I'm done losing". I think that's BS. I get to decide when I'm done.
B: coffee with fairlfe
L: tuna
S:?
D:?
Not much planned until after my appointment. Wish me luck!
Karen

Appointment went well. I was 171, which is fine. I told them everything was going well, but that I wasn't done losing yet and that I would like to get to 145 (still considered overweight for 5'3" me). I was immediately told, don't focus on the numbers, your body might be done before that, don't be too disappointed, etc.
I'm curious why they say that. They have been really supportive but have always tried to steer me away from counting calories, and now this. I mean, I'm not going to jump off a bridge if I don't get to 145, but I've still been losing about a pound a week so why not try for it? I've had to work harder for the last 5 months vs. right after surgery and I imagine that maintenance is going to be hard, too. If I had "let my body tell me when it was done" I would have stopped losing 30 pounds ago. Strange.
yes, i don't understand centers. I wanted to fight fight to get to 118. I wanted to see 115 just once! didn't happen. then after my hernia/twisted bowel surgery they told my husband to tell me to eat 1200 calories a day and max protein. Which i DID and GAINED 5 pounds. they wanted to see me between 130-140! so annoyed!!! now I sit here really mad at all of it. I followed orders, gained and now i'm pissed
you do what you feel is best for you and don't listen to the naysayers if you don't want.
Yeah, I'm going to keep going. They weren't against me losing more weight (I would be very concerned if they were), it was more, "you've reached what we consider successful. Everything else doesn't really matter."
I'm kind of motivated to show them at my 18 month appointment that I may not be as large, but I'm still in charge!
BTW, you are still doing awesome. I would love to be where you are!
Most centers consider you to be a success if you lose 65 percent of your excess weight. For me that would have left me overweight still and I didnt have my insides rearranged so I could be a slightly less large large person. I made my goal a normal bmi even though my center said MO people rarely obtain that. I weigh 123 fully clothed with shoes which at my height is a bmi of 19.7. Ive been this weight for 41/2 years and my arthritis feels much better at the lower weight.
