I drive a Subaru Outback and I love it. It has the Eyesight system that allows for adaptive cruise control. I set it on my max speed and it adjusts to the traffic. If that's not a great technological advancement, then I don't know what is.

B: Lowfat yogurt with a scoop of protein powder

L: Some, as of yet, undecided flavor of Tuna Sensations and a cheesestick

D: Garlic Shrimp with Zucchini strips

Taking one of the cats to the vet in a few - she's making these occasional jerky movements with her leg. Hopefully it's nothing serious...but then, she was just in for her annual exam about six weeks ago and her bloodwork looked good, so I would hope if it was something serious brewing, it would have shown up in her bloodwork first. I hope.

going to a luncheon today with a speaker. I have no idea what they're having, but it's usually buffet style, so I'll make good selections...

blood work looked OK, although they're waiting on one more test result. The vet thought that if everything in the blood looked normal, it may be arthritis pain. Ruthie is 18 years old and has been on prednisone for the last three or so years for IBD. Last time she went in (about six weeks ago), her blood glucose was a bit high, so the vet had us decrease her prednisone dosage. It could be that she had some arthritis going on that the higher pred dose was controlling - and now that she's not getting as much, she might be experiencing some pain from the arthritis. Makes sense. So if that last test we're waiting on is OK, they're going to have us try gabapentin for a few days to see if that seems to help. BTW - Ruthie did get pretty cranky when the vet was trying to work her hip joints, so this hypothesis doesn't seem off-base at all...

I hope that Ruthie I helped by the new medicine! It always strikes me how expertly cats can hide their pain. For them that's a survival mechanism. Glad you saw her unusual behavior and took her in! My two Siamese turned 16 on October 1st. I notice with one in particular that she is not as quick to jump as before. She seems in no pain, but I also suspect she may be experiencing some arthritis. And her sister went totally blind last year! Aging sucks!

yes it does!! I was worried about kidney issues because we've dealt with that with other cats, and I know it's really common in seniors. Thank God it's not that - although arthritis is no fun!

My little blind girl passed a kidney stone earlier this year. Horrible. I agree, thank goodness that's not what's happening with Ruthie!

That is good news, hope she is feeling all better soon and the meds get worked out.
