Happy Tuesday. Day one of the challenge at the gym went well. I took an abs and booty class followed by spin. I'm feeling the abs and booty class today. The instructor was all about form, so I hurt in all the right places. I have my appt. with the new endocrinologist today. To be quite honest, I'm not holding out much hope, but I'm going in with an open mind and a ton of questions.

TQOTD: I LOVE my coffee. My favorite is this independent coffee shop that is female owned. The make the most amazing latte and I like to support the local businesses. I save that one for weekends ater the gym, though. My weekday "go to" is either Starbucks or Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf. Starbucks is way more convenient, but one of my best friends works at Coffee Bean's corporate office and she's trying to break my habit. Good luck to you. Wherever I go I get a SF vanilla latte. I sometimes vary my milk choices, but 90% of the time its the SF Vanilla . . . until christmas when I switch to SF mocha/peppermint!

My plan:

B: Bacon!

L: leftover NY strip or something I pick up after my appt. It's a 12:20 which really messes me up food wise.

D: Roasted chicken thighs (although I should have grilled Dodger dogs in honor of the first game of the World Series)

S: SF latte, ham and cheese roll up before the gym

E: Spin. Today's theme is songs by P!nk so it should be a good class

LET'S GO DODGERS!!!!!!

Hello Menu family! Our VP spot was open when I applied here and we just filled it, so the last two weeks have been insane at work in a mostly good way but still... So very little posting here as I scramble every day to keep up!

QOTD: I love a good dark quality coffee but I hate to spend for it so I'm extra thankful my sister has a great espresso machine at her house! I buy the beans and 2% milk for steaming, although I rarely use the milk.

Accountability: I spent last weekend with friends at my parents farm, painting the porch and cleaning - I didn't log any food and I did have some hard pumpkin cider that was worth every dang calorie! I came home down a pound. For my meal, breakfast on Sunday, I made crab cakes using only a little bread crumbs and I baked them since the low breadcrumbs meant they didn't stick together as well. I served each crab cake with a poached egg on top and some lime/dill/yogurt sauce.

6 mo post RNY/ 149lbs/ Weight-loss stage

B- Chia Seed pudding (1 TBSP Chia seeds, 1 TBSP PB2, 1 scoop plain whey isolate powder, half a can RTD Protein (Pure Protein Banana Cream) - mixed and left overnight in the refrigerator. (215 cal, 37 g protein, 10g carbs, 3g sugar)

L- 3/4 cup 1% cottage cheese

AS- two cups of protein chai tea - one with plain protein powder, one with half a packet of Nectar Vanilla Latte)

D- 6 oz shrimp with 1 TB ****tail sauce

ES- Red Wine

Total Calories: 745, Protein: 129, Carbs: 29, Sugar: 14, Fat: 14

It looks like this will be my first month with next to no weight loss. I'm down a pound or two but that's within the margin of error when one is 150 ish. I am losing inches and I'm gaining muscle with my (six week old) weight lifting program so I'm not officially freaking out. The first week in November I'll have my DEXA scan and I'll officially freak out when I get those results ;-)

Exercise: This morning I swam without my snorkel again and it's going better! I'm focusing on blowing out all my air over two strokes, then inhaling a breath on the third and that seems to work - I mean I'm slow as mud but I'm able to swim a length of the pool this way! This morning I had to share a lane so I didn't do the back stroke (I meander all over the lane when I swim on my back).

I'm doing OK with my over all exercise routine but I haven't replaced my stolen bike yet. It's feeling like fall here in Ohio, it's in the 40s most mornings so riding to work on rain soaked streets with slippery fall leaves isn't exactly motivating me to get the new bike assembled. My GOAL is to ride to work all through the year except when there is ice or snow on the road. I've been running twice a week, lifting twice a week and swimming twice a week. I love swimming but hate getting up that early, I hate lifting weights but I know it's good for me. Running depends on the weather and dog but generally I'm pretty happy going for a run (did I really just type that????)
