What's on your Tuesday menu RNYers?
OK - I really need to tackle this night eating. My weight is stable, but it's bothering me that I'm always caving at night. I usually plan for something small (like a L&F yogurt), but I usually go bigger. Last night it was homemade 2% yogurt (about a cup of it) with strawberries and bran cereal. So I blew past my calorie range....yet again. If I don'****ch it, I'm going to be sorry... I really wasn't hungry last night at all and therefore didn't need *anything*. So I don't get it...
QOTD: I stop at Caribou Coffee almost every morning, because it's on my way to work and the perks are decent. Plus the staff here is great (because I'm a "regular", they all know me by name). On weekends we usually go to local, independent places. I love hanging out in coffee shops - reading the newspaper, working (or playing) on my laptop. I don't know what I did 30 or more years ago before these places were on every corner...
2 years 4 months out
B: homemade Greek yogurt, 1/4 mango, raspberries
S: coffee with half & half, peanut butter/cinnamon protein/Miralax shake
L: 1 C chili with 2 T shredded cheddar
D: chicken/pecan/apple salad
I may have celery sticks with peanut butter again as a snack. I had this yesterday around 10:00 am but used way too much peanut butter (c. 3 T). I was so full I skipped lunch and didn't start thinking about food again until around 3:00. It was magic! However, I'll have more like a tablespoon of it today if I use it for a snack. 3T is a meal!
P.S. I don't like my coffee sweet, but I add half & half. I used to love things like lattes and frappachinos (sp?) but I avoid them now because of the calories. I sometimes dump some strong, cold coffee into my protein shakes to make "iced lattes" out of them. I don't go to Starbucks often because some of their coffee is really acidic and hard on my stomach - but it may depend on the flavor.
Great morning to everyone! I figure I'd start out super positive as its dark, dreary and cold here in Chicago. But it's a good day. I got my swim in this morning, picked up my DD brew and got into work early with pretty good traffic given the weather.
Saw my NUT yesterday (oh, this is gonna bring me down, isn't it). Thankfully I don't have to see her for a year now, though I might go early as I get closer to goal. The NUT I had a year ago was so great. She had great advice and was very flexible. She left to start a new bariatric program. I'm seriously thinking about searching her out and seeing if I can go to her, even if I have to pay the full fee or out of network. Once again the topic yesterday was portion control. Let me say we aren't talking about big numbers here. She's concerned that I'm eating a cup of food at a meal when she'd rather I be eating 3/4 of a cup at this stage (i generally have a small salad and half cup of protein at a meal). All because she wants me to be successful, which she says no less than 5 times at every 50 minute session. Really. We are talking about 50 calories or so a meal. Why couldn't we talk about what the next six months should look like. I couldn't get her off the subject of portion control. Oh and the big piece of advice that took 10 minutes was that I shouldn't eat soup and I shouldn't have protein cereal with milk or other liquids (slider****pt telling her I eat cereal with my premier only when I'm in a situation like traveling or running very late that I can't get my eggs in that morning. This happens maybe once a month. Soup also is a once a month thing. What a waste, but thankfully this site provides good guidance/suggestions to balance. Oh and she was 25 minutes late (always late, every time). Oh well. Back to positive thoughts.
I love coffee and have found 2 options that work great for me. I can't stand weak coffee and decaf at all (I MEAN ALL) restaurants is blah. So Dunkin Donuts decaf Americano with half the normal amout of water added is so perfect. Drinking it as I type this - yum. The other option is Starbucks's Via instant coffee - decaf Italian roast. Very good. I have them with me at all times. Though I drink mostly decaf green tea at the office throughout the day to get my water in.
Accountability to my plan - was not so great. For some reason I started grazing last night. I finally interrupted the pattern by going upstairs to read, which worked. I couldn't figure out the trigger. I wasn't under stress and I didn't eat any carbs/sugar with dinner. Luckily it was just about 150 calories in total of Eggface protein quest cookies and some nuts. So didn't mess up my profile too much.
Pre-workout 3/8 quest bar protein cookies (I cut them in 8 and bake them - then freeze; works great)
B - 2 eggwhites and 1/2 a yolk from hard boiled eggs
S - Fage greek yogurt 6oz and pumpkin seeds (2 tbs)
L - Mariano's buffalo chicken pub burger and small salad
S - Syntrax Carribean cooler (last of the fruit flavor trial pack - I tried the apple yesterday and that was fantastic. So far I've loved the apple, grapefruit and strawberry/kiwi which adds nicely to my fuzzy navel and lemon tea regulars)
D - Crack Slaw with ground beef this time. I've got enough fixings that I need to use up before they spoil.
S - SF popsicles

Morning Menu Peeps!
I'm finally finding the time to get one here in the morning! Since our acquisition, and subsequent changes for me to a new manager, I've been finding things around here changing rapidly! I feel like a wack-a-mole! My new boss loves to throw all kinds of things at me, and keeps me jumping... good for the day passing quickly, but bad for my Internet time!
I've been doing well, even though I dropped out of the CAMAW last week, but I still managed to get the carb cravings under control from my girl's weekend trip. It was all the cabbage's fault! LOL
QOTD: I love my own homemade coffee... I get a brand called 'Red Brick', whole beans, in various flavors (This new store in town, Winco, had TWELVE different varieties of decaf. I'm officially in love with that store! I also have anywhere from 4-8 bottles of SF syrups that line my counters, so I'm always mixing up different concoctions. I've gotten to where I rarely buy a coffee out, but if I do, I like Starbucks. My Ninja makes GREAT coffee, and I can brew it several different ways to suit what I'm in the mood for... everyone should own a Ninja Coffee maker!
Accountability: Yesterday I had a great moment where I was able to bring home the basket full of candy and rice krispy treats I received as a 'boo' Halloween treat from a coworker, UNTOUCHED by me, to my kids... I didn't even eat the teeny little Kit-Kat I was trying to talk myself into! Yay!

I get mine at Tuesday Morning. There used to be a place in our city called Gordman's, and they had a ton of flavors, but they went out of business. Tuesday Morning has them for 3.99 a bottle. Love that price!

I never was a coffee drinker. Just could never get used to the taste. I still dislike anything with a coffee flavor. Me, I'm a tea drinker and I've been having a hard time because my surgeon forbid me from anything with caffeine, including decaf teas. So I've been drinking Rooibos teas to get my morning fix.
