I have been craving salad lately, I am 7 weeks post op. How far out where you when you ate your first salad??? I understand iceberg has no nutritional value but spinach is a great replacement

I was eating salad right around 7 weeks out. Made mine with baby spinach and some of the softer greens and it was delicious. Also surprisingly it goes down really well. I felt full for quite a bit of time and no issues with tummy upset. The thing you need to watch out for is dressings.

Mine hated the creamier kinds but did great on vinaigrettes.

I was several months out until I ate raw veg. I ate cooked green veg like spinach within 6 weeks, but I was cautious of the raw things. You can give it a try though and see how it goes.

My clinic let us have raw veggies three months post-op... Iceberg and Romaine lettuce were fine but more fibrous leaves like spinach and mixed greens gave me a lot of trouble. Even now (2.5 years post-op) I try to avoid mixed greens if I can substitute in something else.

I think I was a few months out. Raw vegetables can be tough on some people's stomachs the first few months post-op.

Hi, I think I was about 8 weeks out when I introduced salad. I have no trouble with any type of lettuce or greens. I wrap everything in lettuce leaves. :)

I still get stuck on salad if I don't chew properly and I'm at 7 months.

Chew, chew and keep chewing!
